“Stephen is great. He’s one of the best bosses in this office. I think you will like working for him.”

Deja gave her a faint smile as she watched her walk out of the office.

Maybe he was having a bad day.Deja thought.

Clearing all negative thoughts, she rolled up her sleeves and dove headfirst into her new role at Farrow Corporation. But no amount of determination could shake the sinking feeling that her new boss, Stephen Farrow, didn’t like her.

After reading through the files, she looked at the small clock on her desk. It was already six o’clock. She turned off the light on her desk and headed out the door. Deja noticed Stephen still sitting in his office. She decided against saying good night as she headed towards the elevator.

“Ms. Rose,” she heard a deep stern tone, and she knew it was Stephen. She turned to see him walking towards her. Deja wasn’t sure why, but her entire body heated up as she watched him. She cleared her throat as he stopped short in front of her.

“Did you get a chance to familiarize yourself with the files I left for you?”

“Yes, sir.” The smile on her face didn’t reach her eyes. She didn’t know what his problem was with her, but she wasn’t going to let him rattle her.

“Good, tomorrow we get to work with one of our biggest clients and I need everyone on their A game.”

“I’ll be ready, sir,” she said as they both stepped onto the elevator.

Stephen nodded as they rode in silence. The air was thick between them. He cut his eye at her and resisted the urge to touch her. The door opened. He touched her shoulder, and she instantly felt sparks. She quickly turned towards him and wondered if he felt it, too. He removed his hand.

“I will see you tomorrow.” He said as he walked past her.

Deja paused as she tried to understand what had just happened. She took a deep breath before walking out of the building.

The next day, Deja walked into the building and glanced around the sleek, modern offices as she adjusted her crisp black blazer. She decided on a black pantsuit with an orange silk sleeveless top. Her heart raced with a mix of anticipation and anxiety. She couldn't shake the feeling that something was off, but pushed it aside, determined to make a good impression. As she neared the corner office, she felt a shiver run down her spine.

“Ah, Ms. Rose,” Stephen's voice cut through the silence like a knife, his tone icy. “I've been waiting for you.” Stephen noticed her in her form fitting suit. Her pants fit perfectly around her tight ass. He cleared his throat. He needed to get his thoughts in check. After all, this was the woman that almost ruined his life.

Deja looked up to see him leaning against the doorframe, his stern expression and piercing blue eyes sending chills down her spine, while sparking heat between her legs. He was a tall, well-built man in his early thirties, dressed impeccably in a tailored suit. His reputation as a successful businessman preceded him, but there was an unmistakable darkness lurking beneath the surface.

She tried to avert his gazed as she looked around and her eyes landed on the large clock on the wall. She was an hour early. Clearing her throat, she turned to face him again. “Mr. Farrow,” she replied, forcing a smile, and extending her hand. “I’m looking forward to working with you.”

He stared at her outstretched hand for a moment before reluctantly shaking it. The softness in his touch didn’t match the coldness in his eyes. Stephen's gaze never quite met hers, leaving her feeling unnerved.

“Let me show you around,” he said curtly, turning away with a brisk stride. Deja wanted to tell him that she had been given a tour, but she decided to remain quiet and go with the flow. She hurried to keep up with him, her heels clicking against the polished floors. As they passed through the office, she noticed employees casting furtive glances in their direction, their faces lined with curiosity as they whispered.

“Lora told me that you are already settled in your office,” Stephen gestured towards her small but cozy office.

“You'll be reporting directly to me.”

“Yes, Mr. Farrow,” Deja replied, trying to ignore the growing sense of unease that gripped her chest.

“Call me Stephen,” he said, the corners of his mouth turning up into what could only be described as a predatory smile. “We're going to be working very closely, Ms. Rose.”

“Alright... Stephen,” she hesitated.

Stephen looked up at her, liking the way she said his name. He really needed to focus. He wanted to hate the woman standing in front of him, but all he could think about was his dick slamming inside her as she screamed out his name. Stephen refocused his attention on her. “Good,” he replied, his eyes narrowing as they bore into hers for the first time. “I just wanted to make sure you understand that I expect only the best out of my workers.”

“Understood,” Deja said, clenching her jaw as she tried to form a smile. This was her chance to prove herself and succeed, so she resisted the urge to lash out at him.

“Excellent,” Stephen murmured, his gaze lingering on her for a moment before he turned away, leaving her standing in the doorway of her new office.
