I thought it was great that she was purchasing a home to be near Remy, but I wondered why if she was only going to be visiting a few times a year when she was a successful club owner, owning several in Miami, Tennessee, Austin, Dallas, and Houston, she could purchase as many homes as she pleased.

The door slowly opened as Remy’s mother stood before us. I had to admit, she was extremely beautiful. She could be a model from her straight black hair, smooth mocha skin, big brown eyes, and those dimples that Remy inherited. Between her and Mr. Delgado, Remy definitely took after both parents.

“Hi, Mom,” Remy greeted while giving her a kiss on the cheek.

“Hi, baby. Come on in, you two.” She moved to the side as she gave me a hug, which surprised me. “How are you, dear?”

“I’m well. And yourself?”

“I’m doing wonderful. I’m so glad to finally meet you. As much as Remy talks about you, I feel like I already know you. And, wow, you’re gorgeous! I love your hair.”

“Thanks, I got it from my mom,” I blurted out with a chuckle.

She gave a weird laugh as she looked at Remy.

“Shoot, baby, could you be a dear and go to the store for me? I forgot to get the sauce for the asparagus.”

“The chipotle sauce?”

“You know that’s the only sauce you like.”

“Sure, I can go. Did you want to ride with me, P?”

“No, let Porsha stay. It’ll give us some time to talk.”

Remy looked hesitant, as I mouthed “it’s okay.” I knew this was going to happen.

“Okay, I’ll be right back.”

“Take your time, baby.”

We watched, as Remy went to the car and his mom smiled. She took my hand before speaking, “Let’s go sit, Porsha.”

I smiled, as she led the way. We walked into the living room, and she offered me to take a seat. She had a tray of snacks and drinks sitting on the ottoman.

“As you can see, I came prepared. Make yourself at home, sweetie.”

“Thank you, Ms. Porter.”

“Ms. Porter makes me feel old. Call me Renee.”

“Sure, Ms… Renee,” I nervously replied.

Renee smiled. “You’re really cute. I see why Remy is so smitten with you.”

“Just like I am with him. He really has been a bright light in life.”

“I’m glad, especially since Remy is doing everything he can to get his business up and running. He always has been a go-getter, especially when it came to creating new ideas.”

“What made him get into the tech business?”

Renee crossed her legs and smiled. “He always been creative with technology. He was always fascinated with codes and numbers and doing something cool with video games because he was always playing with them growing up. So, when he brought it to my attention that he wanted to create his own game, I was proud of him and wanted for him to succeed in his goals. He reminded me of myself at his age when I did my first club promotion at my friend’s club years ago. That’s when I knew I wanted to open my own club, which I did a few years after.”

“Which Remy always boasts about. He’s really proud of you and what you have accomplished.”

“Trust me, it took hard work, a lot of dedication, and a few sleepless nights. It even took me away from Remy for a bit, which of course his dad helped out a lot.”

I noticed the hurt look she had when she mentioned Mr. Delgado. She exhaled before speaking again.
