"I'll show the pictures if you don't come with us." Smarmy tries to threaten again. "What would your mother think about the photos? What about the next company you all decide to take over? Will a tarnished reputation help your business?"

"If you put those pictures out, I won't tell you anything. As a matter of fact, I will tell them everything, and they'll more than ruin you." I cross my arms the best I can while holding the bags. "Now ask your questions."

Jake scans the area and finds a table. "Can we at least go sit over there?"

"Sure. At the end of the day, it's your funeral." I follow them over to the table. Smarmy goes to touch me again, and I jerk back before sitting in the plastic chair. "Touch me again, and I will happily fuck up your face."

He quietly takes a seat beside me. Jake has already taken a notepad and pen out of a bag he's holding. "What are they going to do with my business?"

"All of the offices are going to be closed and will be operating under the MAY company instead," I inform them.

Jake's brows lower. "What about all of the employees?"

"Some of them will keep their jobs, and some won't. It just depends on a few criteria, but most of them will be without a job. Why didn't you go to any of them? They've all been told," I ask, looking back and forth at them. "Oh right, they had to sign a non-disclosure or lose their severance. And what a nice severance it is."

Smarmy's hand hits the table. "They're going to get rid of my company? Fuck that! I'll just start another one."

"In all of the contracts you signed, there was a non-compete agreement. You can't open another business that competes against the MAY company for twenty years." My phone rings, and I pull it out. "Sorry, guys, but you're fucked. I have to take this. If I don't answer, they'll send someone after me." I hold up the phone for them to see.

Smarmy grumbles, "Go ahead and answer. But if you say one thing about us being here, those pictures will be released."

"Hello," I answer the phone while hiding a smile.

Marsten's grumble comes over the phone. "Still at the store?"

"Yep." I pop the p.

Marsten's quiet for a second. "Hurry up and get back. We can't eat on time if you don't get back."

"Don't send me out for a meal that you're going to cook next time. If you cook, then you should get the food," I snap back. "I have to go. About to head back now. Be back shortly."

Marsten harrumphs. "Fine. Hurry up."

I disconnect the call. "Is there anything else?"

"We'll contact you when we need you again. Remember, when we call, come. I wouldn't want those pictures to be sent to your mother." Smarmy grins, and I shudder.

Jake adds, "Or put out in the open for the public to see."

I roll my eyes. "Fine. Call at a decent time, or they'll be suspicious. Since you're targeting me, you don't want that to happen. Furthermore, just remember, if you put out any video or pictures, then it won't just be me who's after you. Think on that before making any rash decisions."

Spinning on my heel, I stroll to the car, shaking inside.

This won't be fun.

Chapter Eleven

"Y

ou're smiling a lot more since we claimed Nixon," Haddon observes. "We should have done it a lot earlier."

I agree but keep silent.

Drew leans forward. "Definitely. You're smiling right now. I bet you don't even know it."

Again, I say nothing. I know I'm smiling. She's the woman of my dreams. Of all our dreams. Being inside her is like nothing I've ever felt. I plant my elbows on the table. "What are we doing about Simmons?"

"The supervisors have all been alerted to the changes. We're about halfway through sending everyone to work from home. Also, everyone who has gone home has signed a non-disclosure agreement. They were all told something a little different, so if anything gets out, we'll know who it is," Drew advises.
