Kyle scratched his chin and jawline with his fingertips. “Wesley. I was at the club to find my brother. His alcohol and drug use has increased since the death of our parents.”
“What happened to your parents?”
“A car accident. No one told you?”
“I didn’t ask for details.”
“Why not?”
“I was new, and a temp. Seemed rude to ask. You said that Wesley isn’t doing well. How are you doing?”
“I’m fine. I knew one day I would run the company alone. I just didn’t think it would be so soon.”
I listened as he talked. At times, I had to pry information out of him, but he was very forthcoming eventually and so different from the way he acted at work.
We ate and talked and laughed for hours, exchanging stories about our lives. Kyle opened up about his childhood, and how he’d struggled to form close relationships as an adult. I felt so at ease that I had three full glasses of wine. I was so comfortable around him I didn’t fear anything would go wrong as long as he was with me.
The restaurant was closing, and we left. We were mulling about at the valet stand, waiting for his car.
For a long moment, we simply looked at each other, a new awareness simmering between us. Kyle’s eyes darkened, and then his hands were cupping my face and his lips claimed mine in a kiss that scorched me in my soul.
I melted into him without hesitation, months of pent up longing and desire spilling over the both of us. My hands found their way under his jacket, splaying across the hard muscle of his back as I opened my mouth and invited him in.
When we finally broke apart, we were both breathless, staring at each other with wonder. I was all teeth as he took my hand in his.
A slow grin spread across Kyle’s face. He brushed his thumb over my lower lip. His eyes were bright with lust.
My heart was beating a mile a minute. I wanted this man so bad. This was the version I hadn’t seen until now.
His car showed up, and it wasn’t just any car. It was a metallic purple Porsche. The color was hot and sexy, but didn’t seem like a color he would pick. Before the valet driver could get out of the driver’s seat, Kyle rushed to open the passenger door for me.
It was late, but I didn’t want this night to be over. I was having too much effortless fun.
When we pulled away from the curb, I just wanted this to last forever.
Chapter Nine
KYLE

typed in the code to unlock my front door. Aerica stood behind me, her breath hitching as I ushered her into my home. This was dangerous territory. Once she crossed the threshold, there’d be no turning back. I wanted her, and I was going to have her.
I desired her from the first moment I saw her. There was a kind of defiance radiating in her dark eyes. She wasn’t like the others, the other women who fell at my feet, eager to please.
Aerica challenged me in a way no one else dared to. She ignited a fire in my blood that threatened to consume me. She was witty, smart, and like no woman I’d ever met. There was an age difference of six years but she was an adult.
“Welcome to my home,” I said, with my voice rough.
Aerica looked around, eyes widening as she took in the spacious foyer and curving staircase in the middle of the living room. “It’s beautiful.”
“Not as beautiful as you are.” I crowded her against the wall, hands braced on either side of her head. Her delectable scent flooded my senses. There was something fruity and sensuous that accosted me. Intoxicating. “You have no idea what you do to me, do you?”
She met my gaze. “Why don’t you show me?”
“Is that a challenge?” My lips twisted into a predatory smile. She was playing with fire and was about to get burned. “You should know, I never back down from a challenge.”
“Prove it.” Her eyes darkened with the request.
