Arson followed them. “While I come up with a speech to convince Nova, I’m going to put together some cocktails for you to take with you.”
“The explosive kind?” Exa asked, already knowing the answer.
“That’s the only kind I’m good at making. The other kind always turns out too sweet.”
Exa chuckled. “Thank you, my little fire starter.”
“Yeah. Yeah. You owe me.”
Exa watched Arson walk away before returning her gaze to Rain, who was still holding on to her man. She wasn’t crying anymore. She was just holding him. It was time for Exa to stop being nosey and go see her own man. They had some plans to make and very little time to make them.
Exa turned away from Rain and Dean and headed to her own room. When she entered, she was surprised that Scar wasn’t on the bed. She shut the door behind her just as he stepped out of the bathroom with his phone to his ear.
“Okay,” he said. “You sure the new list doesn’t have us on it? Good. Send all of that to me. Thanks, kid.” Scar paused, then laughed. “You serious? Okay. Well, thanks, Liam.” Shaking his head, Scar ended the call. “Are you done with your team meeting?” he asked Exa.
Striding further into the room, she nodded before asking, “Was Liam able to find out the judge’s schedule?”
“Yes. He went above and beyond what I asked.”
“That fast?”
“He’s good.” Scar lay across the bed, where his laptop was already opened. “He should be sending the details to me any second now. Come here.”
Exa lay down next to him and stared at the computer screen.
“Here’s the first file now,” Scar told her, clicking on the folder icon. “He wasn’t able to hack into you all’s cameras. I told him not to worry about it.”
“Our firewalls are one of the best.”
“We figured as much. So, we don’t know if the judge is home yet or not. But Liam found out he has a speaking engagement in four days.”
“Where at?” Exa asked. “Not that it matters. I need to be home in four days.”
“Yeah, I know. The engagement is in Florida. But, in two days, he’s having a private event at his home for art enthusiasts.”
A private event?Exa tensed. Scar must’ve felt it.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
Exa shook her head. To change the subject, she said, “I must admit, that boy is good. No wonder Seven wants to learn from him. And no wonder the Timeless academy wants him to teach there.”
“Yeah, he’s one of the best. But don’t let him hear you call him a boy. He just told me not to call him Kid anymore. He wants to be called by his name.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Ever since he met a certain assassin trainee, he hasn’t wanted us to treat him like a kid anymore.”
“What?” Exa was barely able to hold in her laughter. “Look at my Seven, got dudes out here leveling up.”
Scar grinned. “You got me crazy over you. Liam is falling for Seven. And Julien is about to lose his damn mind over Arson. What’s up with you Timeless agents?”
“I mean, you’ve met us. We the shit.”
“And cocky.”
“You love it.”
“More than anything,” he told her.
