Scar glanced back to make sure no one was sneaking up behind him. All was clear. He gripped the doorknob and twisted. The door squeaked as he eased it open.
“You’re still good,” Liam told him.
Scar exited the room and stepped into a hallway. From the blueprint, he knew the room across from him was a dining area.
“There’s no camera in that room,” Liam told him. “I don’t know if there’s anyone behind that door. But Exa has made it to the foyer.”
“Already?”
“Yeah. She’s waiting on you.”
Scar needed to make sure there was no one in that room. Noise from his left drew his gaze in that direction. A guy with his head down stepped out of a room, buttoning his pants up. A woman followed behind him. Scar stepped back into the kitchen before either could see him.
“I see them,” Liam said. “They’re coming down the hall, heading in your direction. The judge’s inside cameras have a longer lag time than the Timeless cameras. Listen to their movements. And I’ll tell you when I see them near you.”
Back against the wall, Scar stared at the four unconscious men seated around the kitchen table as he waited to see which direction the newcomers were going. From the look of this room, this had to be where the staff ate. The other room must be where the judge and his guest ate. Scar eased closer to the door to listen to the newcomers' footsteps.
Were they heading to this room or the dining room? He’d soon find out.

Scar

“Come on,” Scar mutteredunder his breath as he waited.
He heard laughter moving his way. A woman’s voice filled the air.
“Your wife is going to kill you if you go home with that hickey,” she told him before giggling.
“Nah. She won’t see it down there,” the guard replied.
“She will when she goes down on you.”
“That bitch hasn’t gone down on me in years. That’s what I’ve got you for, baby.”
