“He wants the real thing. The kid has taste. See you in five,” Scar told him.

Ending the call, he strode back into the meeting room and sat down. Though he had a rough plan in his head, he was sure the team could help him turn it into a legit strategy. With the help of Exa and her Timeless agents, they should be able to make it a plan that didn’t lead to chaos, well, much chaos. It was nearly ten minutes before Garrett arrived. Upon entering the room, Garrett closed and locked the door behind him.

“What took you so long?” Scar questioned.

“Ya-Ya started crying when I got up to leave. What can I say? My daughter loves her father.”

“Brag much?”

“I’m not bragging. Do you know how hard it is to leave her behind when she stares up at me with those big eyes?”

“Dude, are you about to cry?”

“Fuck you,” Garrett said. “I had dust in my eyes. The Timeless need to dust this room.”

Scar laughed. “Yeah, it’s dust.”

“What the fuck did you call me for? Wait, you don’t have to tell me. I’m pretty sure I already know what you want,” Garrett told him, moving to sit down across from Scar.

“I’m sure you don’t.”

“I’m sure I do.”

“Okay, psychic. Let’s hear it. What do I want?” Scar asked, convinced Garrett had no idea.

“You want to kill Zian’s weak ass and the Leader of the Soldiers, too,” Garrett told him.

Damn. He was good.

“You want to find out what Grandpa Fang’s geriatric ass has been up to while his grandson has been causing chaos,” Garrett continued. “If he’s part of Zian’s plan, then you want to off his old ass too. The thing is, if we off Grandpa Fang, we can’t let Oni find out. She’d kill me if she did. Does that sum up what you want?”

Scar smiled.

Garrett grinned. “I told you your big brother knows what you’re thinking.”

“How many times do I have to tell you I’m the big brother?”

“Alright, babybrother. Let's plan this shit out.” Garrett reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.

“Is that a unicorn sticker on the back of your phone?” Scar asked.

Garrett sighed. “Her name is Buttercup.”

“The damn unicorn has a name?”

“Yes. And if you look closely at my beard, you’d see that there’s glitter in it.”

“That’s glitter? I thought you were going gray.”

“No. Miriam brought Ya-Ya toys with glitter on them. Now everything my child’s little hands touch ends up with glitter on it. Whenever she gets quiet, and I can’t find her, I just follow the glitter. It always leads me straight to her. Worst of all, it’s hell getting glitter off stuff.”

Scar burst out laughing. “I never thought I’d see the day you’d be bested by a toddler and glitter.”

“I won’t let them win. I’m going to get this glitter out of my beard.” Garrett swiped on his phone. “I’ve got my calendar up. Let’s talk dates. When do we want to get started?”

Scar leaned forward in his seat and told Garrett of his plans for the judge and how he had one week to handle that situation. After he’d taken care of the judge, he’d return, and they’d stop waiting on others to help them save Letisha. Instead, they’d take matters into their own hands. By the time he and Garrett had finished talking, Scar felt more hopeful for the future.

If they succeeded, maybe Nik would stop having the dark thoughts he was having. If they failed... Scar shook his head. They couldn’t fail. Too many lives were riding on this, including his and the woman he loved.
