“Say that again,” Enzo whispered as he searched for his clothes in the dark.

“My cousin, Marcel, has finally started talking. He recalls some of the things he overheard while locked in that closet. He remembers someone saying they needed ten men to work on the protection detail for the Bianchis when they met up with the car salesman to deliver the goods for shipping.”

Bitch ass Bianchis. Their low-level organization didn’t have enough soldiers to protect them from a routine drug run. No wonder they’d tried to get Emelia on their team. No wonder they’d used her to sell in DeLuca territory. Come to think of it, Adduci’s wife used to be one of Emelia’s patients. Perhaps it was Emelia who’d introduced the Bianchi family to Adduci. Enzo still planned to put a bullet in that bastard.

Because of Emelia and her connections, the Bianchi family wasn’t only pushing weight in DeLuca territory in Italy, but perhaps all over the world. Enzo sighed.Fucking Emelia. Without her, the Bianchis wouldn’t have been able to set into motion this attempt to return their family to its former glory. He was still shocked she’d been willing to tear down her own family and help another rise. Sometimes greed overshadowed loyalty. Sometimes greed overshadowed love.

Clearing his throat as he finished dressing, Enzo asked, “Is that all he said?”

“No. According to the goons, there’s a road behind the dealership that leads to a forest. To avoid being seen, that’s the road they use when they bring product to the dealership. He also said after the drop-off with the car salesman, the Bianchi don plans to meet at thesecret spotfor a meeting with the donna.”

The donna? Was that what they’d referred to Emelia as? Instead of meeting her at the secret spot, they’d shot up her car. Emelia should’ve heeded their grandfather’s saying. The enemy of my enemy is sometimes my fucking enemy too.

“He doesn’t know who the don or donna is,” Orazio continued. “Nor where the secret spot is located. He said he was in and out of consciousness for the most part. But the reason I called you is because he told me when the drop-off was supposed to occur. From what he says, the drop should be in progress right now.”

“Fuck.” Enzo stormed into his closet, shoved his clothes aside, and opened the back compartment of his closet. He stared at his panel of weapons. “Do we have time to get there before they leave?” Enzo asked.

“My brothers and I are heading that way now. We left our cousin with a guard.”

“Don’t do anything until I get there.”

“You’re a don, Enzo. But you’re notourdon. These bastards had my cousin tortured. He’s just now able to talk again. His fucking jaw was damn near broken.”

“I understand,” Enzo told him, whispering loudly, trying not to wake up Eve. Shoving the items he needed into a duffle bag, he said, “But you don’t want to go in there with only three men.”

“My brothers and I can handle ten goons.”

“They won’t only have ten goons. The ten is just what they hired from Ettori’s crew. They probably have others. You don’t know what you’re walking into.”

“This could be our last chance to get to these fuckers,” Orazio explained. “We’re going. Are you coming as backup?”

“I’m a don, Orazio. I don’t do backup. I’m taking charge. Stand down until we get there. You’ll get your revenge. But you didn’t come all this way to get yourself and your brothers killed. Or did you?”

Orazio sighed heavily into the phone. Enzo heard a loud noise. It sounded like Orazio had hit the steering wheel. He understood Orazio’s frustration. Enzo also had a hard time standing down. In this case, waiting for help to arrive was Orazio’s best option.

“Okay,” the man finally agreed. “We’ll get close and observe. My brother brought his gear. He’ll try to hack into any cameras in the facility and in the area. We’ll text you our location when we park.”

“I’ll put together a team. We’re on our way. One more thing, Orazio.”

“Yeah.”

“As long as you’re in Italy and working with my family, I am your don.”

Orazio chuckled. “Don Enzo, less talking, more killing.”

Enzo ended the call. He and the Cattaneos were going to get along just fine. He slung his duffle bag over his shoulder and turned to find Eve standing at the foot of the bed, arms folded over her chest.

So much for sneaking out and returning before she awakened.
