Blood or not, they’d soon feel his wrath.
Then and only then could he properly begin his life with Eve.

Eve’s good morningkiss helped him remain positive for the first half of the day. That positivity was destroyed when Secretary Yang called and told him the Cattaneo family was waiting for him at Tower D. They hadn’t called in advance. Neither had they scheduled an appointment. They just showed up unannounced.
Enzo clenched his phone and yelled into the receiver, “Tell the Cattaneos they can go fuck themselves.”
“Wait!” Stefan called out from the driver’s seat.
Enzo lowered the phone to his lap, and glared Stefan’s way. “What is it now?”
“The Cattaneos are our allies.”
“That doesn’t mean they can pop up whenever they want.”
“True. But it does mean we don’t need to offend them.”
“Their family holds no rank in Italy anymore.”
“It still doesn’t mean we should offend them.”
“Them showing up and demanding to speak with me offends me,” Enzo griped. “Instead of me worrying about offending motherfuckers, motherfuckers need to worry about offending me.”
“Motherfuckers do. Trust me, they do. Still, I think you should meet with the Cattaneos.”
“Give me one good reason.”
“Because the Cattaneo family wouldn’t demand to see you specifically unless they had a reason.”
Enzo scoffed, “The only reason they’d come to Tower D would be to talk about their office in the Tower. If they have business issues, they can see HR for that. They don’t need to talk to me directly.” Enzo paused. “But they know that.”
Enzo stared out the window. If the Cattaneos were asking to see him specifically, then they weren’t there about their office in Tower D.
“Should I turn around?” Stefan asked.
“Yeah. I can talk to Lino after I meet with the Cattaneos.” Enzo held the phone to his ear. “Yang, have them wait in the lobby for me. I’ll be there in twenty minutes.”
“Yes, sir,” Yang replied.
After ending the call, Enzo returned his phone to his coat pocket. What did the fucking Cattaneos want?
“Were the Cattaneos at grandfather’s funeral?” Enzo asked Stefan.
“They sent their condolences and a gift for the new don. They couldn’t come. One of their young cousins had been kidnapped during that time. It was an all-hands-on-deck situation. He was taken before Don Ermanno’s death. They’d had a meeting scheduled with Don Ermanno. They pushed back their meeting to handle their family situation. And then the don was killed.”
“My grandfather was fond of them.”
“This is why you need to be polite when you meet with them. Especially if the don of their family is present.”
“They’re the family who took the fall for grandfather when he first became don, correct?” Enzo asked, trying to recall everything he knew about the Cattaneos.
“That’s right.”
