“You’re not my type.”

“I’m everyone’s type,” Enzo replied.

“I’m only doing what needs to be done,” Stefan told him. “Soon, I’ll hire someone to be your driver. Once that person is trained, I’ll resume being your right-hand man. Until then, bear with it, sir.”

“I’m too tired to argue with you.”

“I’ll pick you up in the morning...”

“I won’t be going to Tower D tomorrow.”

“Sir...”

“I’m taking a week off. I’m sure the motherfuckers there can survive without me for a week. Hell, my grandfather didn’t go there every day.”

“You’re the new chairman. You have to establish...”

“I’ll establish whatever needs to be established in a week.”

“At least allow secretary Yang to answer your calls and take messages.”

“If I say I’ll allow it, will you leave?”

Stefan nodded.

“Contact Yang. Tell her I won’t be in the office for a week and that she can text me all the messages she receives. I’ll reply to the urgent ones. Now, bye, Stefan. I’ll see you in the morning. Tomorrow, I need to go to our construction company and have a chat with Lino.”

“I’ll be here in the morning. Before I leave, I’ve packed a suitcase with things for Eve. Would you like me to take them to her?”

“I’ll see to it that my little Firestarter gets them,” Enzo told him.

Stefan stood there staring at him for a long while. Finally, without saying anything, his friend turned and left the room. With him gone, Enzo relaxed on the recliner. Stefan had looked like he’d wanted to say something more. Perhaps he’d wanted to tell Enzo that he was acting out of character.

He didn’t need Stefan to tell him that. He already knew he was behaving oddly. That would be rectified soon. By tomorrow, Eve would no longer be a distraction to him. By tomorrow, his thoughts would be clear, and he’d be able to focus solely on finding the betrayer. By tomorrow, his little hostage would know why his enemies called him a savage.
