"Careful," Stefan told him.
"What's the microwave going to do to me? Shoot me?"
The microwave door was on the floor. The inside of the appliance was almost totally black. Enzo searched for what she'd put in the microwave to cause this kind of damage, but someone had already gotten rid of it.
"Who tried cleaning this up?" Enzo asked.
"Giorgio."
Eve's guard. He would have to pay for this. Giorgio should've been by her side while she was in the kitchen. He was her fucking guard. Guarding her was what he was being paid to do. Enzo balled his hands into fists.
"No killing," Stefan told him.
"Shut the hell up."
Enzo sighed. After the day he'd had, he hadn't expected to come home to this. He couldn't catch a break anywhere.
"I'll have a team come in to renovate the room first thing in the morning," Stefan told him. "Would you like to move to another house for now?"
"No. I'll stay here."
"The burnt smell has filled the house," Stefan pointed out.
Right. He couldn't have Eve staying here with that burning stench in the air.
"We'll move to the guest house," Enzo told them. The guest house was a separate house on his property. It had its own kitchen, three bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room, a panic room, and an office he could work out of.
"The clothes in your closet may also have the burning smell in the fabric," Stefan told him. "I'll go to Avola Manor and get some of your things from your room there."
"Why would you do it?" Enzo asked Stefan. "Find someone else to do it."
"I'll do it," Stefan insisted.
“You’re not my maid, Stefan.”
“I know. But I can get it done faster. And I need the guards to stay here to protect you. I’ll lead you to the guest house before I go.”
“I’ll go and get Eve,” Enzo said.
“No, you won’t,” Stefan corrected him. As Stefan pulled his phone from his pocket, he said, “I’ll have Giorgio bring the witness to the guest house after we’ve gotten a room set up for her.”
Enzo glared at Stefan, who was determined to keep him away from Eve. He didn’t miss the slight uptick of Stefan’s lips. It was only there for a second. It was gone just as quickly as it appeared. Yet, Enzo had witnessed it. Stefan was enjoying this shit far too much.
Into the phone, Stefan said, "The don has arrived home. He'll be relocating to the guest house. Prepare the witness to be transported."
Enzo shoved his hands into his pockets as he listened to Stefan talk. Though there was nothing wrong with what Stefan was saying, it did make Enzo a tad bit uncomfortable hearing it in reference to Eve.
"I'll let you know when to bring her over." Stefan ended the call, then looked at Enzo. "Do I need to get clothes for her?"
"Bring over some of my T-shirts and jogging pants. She can wear those."
"There are other things that women need," Stefan told him.
"Like what?"
“Women things.”
“Women things?”
