“Mr. Cattaneo,” Stefan said. “Your meeting with the people behind the kidnapping is tomorrow. Did you come to us to verify that we weren’t behind this? Or did you come because you want us to attend the meeting with you?”

Orazio shook his head. “Fuck that meeting. I don’t negotiate with motherfuckers who hurt my family.”

Enzo liked the way this motherfucker thought.

“I won’t be attending the meeting tomorrow,” Orazio continued. “Neither will those bastards who took my cousin. They will die tonight. I came here because my brothers and I need some assistance. We’re calling on Don DeLuca for help. Will you help me save my cousin? In doing so, you can find out who was trying to lay the blame at your feet.”

Enzo pushed his chair away from his desk and stood. He took a deep breath, released it slowly, and then said, “I’ll never turn down a chance to kill motherfuckers.”

Stefan sighed and muttered under his breath, “Of course, you won’t.”

Ignoring him, Enzo told Orazio, “I’ll help. But we do things my way. We won’t go in half-cocked.”

Orazio nodded. “I understand. In our haste to save our cousin, we haven’t devised a plan. But, we have scouted the area. It’s remote. There are many windows in the building. Not so many doors. Behind the building is a junk yard. I can text you the address.”

“How many men do you have with you?” Enzo asked.

“Me and my two brothers. And three guards.”

Enzo nodded. “Stefano, call Lino. Tell him to get a team and suit up. We’re on our way to his place.”

“On it,” Stefan said and left the room.

Enzo faced the Cattaneo brothers. “We go after nightfall. For now, we’ll relocate to a different location to plot. Is that okay with you all?”

The brothers nodded.

“The deal is,” Enzo continued. “You get your cousin. I get the person behind the kidnapping. That person cannot be killed. I want to interrogate him.”

“Will you make him suffer before he finally dies?” Orazio asked.

Enzo grinned. “Suffering is a must. Now, if you’ll excuse me, gentlemen. I need you to wait in the lobby for a bit. I have to call my lady and tell her I’ll be home late tonight. Yang,” Enzo called to the secretary. “Escort the Cattaneo brothers to the lobby.”

Enzo watched the men leave the office. Once they were gone, he sat down in his chair. He was satisfied with this meeting and glad Stefano had talked him into having it. Maybe this puzzle piece would lead him to the person selling drugs in DeLuca territory. More importantly, it may even lead to who the betrayer was.

Whoever was behind this, they were bold as hell. They were confidently going up against Enzo and trying to get his allies to turn against him. Yeah, their balls had to be big as hell. When Enzo was done with them, they wouldn’t have any balls. Enzo pulled out his phone and called Eve. She answered on the fifth ring.

“What took you so long to answer the phone?” he asked, not wanting to admit that with each ring, he’d wondered if she was okay or if his enemies had gotten to her.

“None of your business,” she replied. “What’s up?”

“What took you so long to answer the phone, Eve?” he asked again.

“If you must know, don Enzo...”

“I must.”

“I’m trying to tell you. I was in the kitchen. I’m trying my hand at cooking.”

“Why?” Enzo yelled into the phone. “Eve, do not destroy the kitchen.”

“Don’t worry. I’ve got this. I think. I hope.”

Shit. “Eve, you don’t have to cook, love.”

“I know. I want to.”

He didn’t want her to. Enzo kept that to himself.
