“Four.”
“None.”
“One hour it is,” Stefan agreed. A second later, he muttered under his breath, “Difficult ass.”
“What did you say?”
“Nothing, sir.”
Enzo held in his chuckle, glad that Stefan hadn’t completely changed.
“Back to business,” Stefan said. “Our team has done a sweep of the entire Tower D building. The only cameras or listening devices in the building are the ones we had installed. Enzo, listen to my next words carefully. Your grandfather never killed anyone in that building.”
“Why are you telling me stuff I already know?”
“You are not allowed to kill anyone in that building.”
“You act as if I go around killing motherfuckers on a regular basis.”
“Some will test you. You’ll have to handle them diplomatically.”
Enzo gritted his teeth.Diplomatically. He hated that damn word.
“Understood?” Stefan asked.
“I know how to be diplomatic, Stefan.”
“I know. But right now, your temper is worse than usual.”
That was true. “I promise not to kill anyone in the Tower.”
“Good.”
“Once they leave the Tower...”
“Enzo!”
Enzo chuckled. “No one will die in Tower D. That’s all I can promise.”
Stefan must’ve called ahead to let them know he was coming. When they arrived, six secretaries were standing in front of the building to greet him, three on each side of the double doors that led into the building. There were two guards awaiting him and a valet also. The valet was one of Enzo’s men.
Before getting out of the car, Enzo asked Stefan, “Why is Marco working as a valet?”
“It’s only temporary. I haven’t found anyone for this position yet.”
“What happened to Mr. Lambert?”
“Your grandfather’s old valet retired. I told you that a couple of days ago.”
Shit. His mind had been preoccupied with murder.
“Don’t worry,” Stefan told him. “I’ll put a qualified soldier on it by the end of this week.”
They definitely needed someone qualified. The don’s valet didn’t just park the car. He remained with the vehicle the entire day. He even ran errands for the don while the don worked. Keeping a valet with his car all day ensured the car remained safe. It ensured there were no surprise explosions or motherfuckers hiding in the back seat when the don reentered the vehicle.
Marco opened the car door for Enzo. Taking a deep breath, he released it slowly as he stepped out of the vehicle and stared up at the building.Tower D. This building was part of his grandfather’s legacy. It was part of the reason why the DeLucas were who they were today.
The media once tried to label the building as a‘racketeering eyesore in plain sight.’They stated that the building was home to fraudulent companies whose home bases were in other countries while they stationed a minor office in Tower D to launder money. While that may be true, don Ermanno had been prepared for the media storm.
