The car I’m leaning on suddenly makes a quick beep and the lights flash. Serafina pauses her next move. I look to my right and there’s some guy and some girl walking toward me.
“Do you mind, man? That’s my fucking car you’re leaning against.”
Without hesitation, I ball up my right hand. Tight. I bring my arm forward, flex harder, and then drive my elbow back as hard as I can.
I know there’s a chance I’ll fucking shatter the bones that make up and surround my elbow. I don’t give a fuck.
My elbow hits the driver’s side window and it explodes.
“What the fuck!”
This guy has the balls to lunge at me. I grab him by the throat with my right hand and pull him closer, making sure he sees my face. I want him to know who he’s fucked with. I dare him to say a word to someone about this.
His response when he realizes who I am?
“Oh… fuck…”
I turn. Fast. My hand moves from his throat to the back of his head. I drive his face against the metal strip that separates the front door from the back door.
There’s a sickening thud and crunching sound and the guy drops to the ground. He’s lucky I don’t step on his neck and break it.
“What did you fucking do that for?”
The shriek of the girl captures my attention.
“You say one more fucking word and I’m going to do the same thing to you,” I growl at her.
She realizes who I am and instantly starts to step back. She shows me her hands. She’s fucking terrified of me. That’s smart on her part.
Avoiding our brood is smart. Not being anywhere near the legion is smart. See, the purpose ofSAgoes beyond dealing with crazy psychos like myself and the other guys. There’s an entire campus if you want to call it that. Hundreds upon hundreds of those who attend for their own personal reasons. Nothing but rich kids. Spoiled kids.Cuntygirls. Douchebag guys who peaked in high school throwing a touchdown pass on a Friday night. That kind of thing.
Those smart enough to know there’s a true darkness to this place know to keep their distance. They know not to ask. Glimpses of that world seep through as they see how things really work.
Take this asshole on the ground. Chances are his father is a successful defense attorney. Probably gets paid millions to keepbad guys out of jail. What this asshole doesn’t get is that those assholes his father keeps out of jail…? Those are our fathers.
Even the rich have a food chain. Take your million dollars and shove it up your ass. We have ten billion waiting to eat you the fuck up.
It’s all a game. They’re all pawns.
I look back to the window of my claimed. She’s not there anymore. I check the time.
Right now she usually washes her face, brushes her teeth, and gets into her bed with a book. She’s embracing a sense of calmness. Thinking she found herself a routine. Convincing herself that maybe this isn’t so bad here after all.
That’s all part of it.
Soon, she will be broken and fully mine.
Chapter Ten
SERAFINA
I’ve readthe same page in this book and haven’t absorbed a single word. My eyes keep looking at the window. I can’t stop thinking about…him.
Let’s be very clear, there is no fancy or flirty word for what’s happening. He’s stalking me. For sure. Following me. Watching me. He knows what I’m going to do next. Where I’m going to be.
He’s always in his mask, except for tonight. I could tell he wasn’t wearing his mask. And, of course, it was too dark to see his face.
But I did see him attack some guy. I never saw anything like it. The way he moved. How strong he was. How much he didn’t give a fuck.
