Fuck… oh, fuck…
I know right then and there where this is going.
“I’ll do it,” Peri blurts out.
“No!” I growl.
“I allowed it to happen,” Peri says. “Tyrant is currently serving a punishment. I have not received mine.”
“You were attacked,” I say to Peri. “You served.”
Peri looks at me. “For thelegion. For thebrood. To honor thePerg.”
“Perfect,” Mr. Seven says.
“Sir,if I may…”
It takes Mr. Seven a second to produce a gun and point it at my forehead.
“Tyrant, you’re going to tell Perilous what needs to be done,” Mr. Seven says. “I have full permission from your father to pull this fucking trigger if need be.”
To get taken out in the way Mr. Seven suggests, there needs to be some sort of agreement within thelegion. All it takes is one of them to allow it to happen. Nothing like your own father sanctioning your murder.
It doesn’t shock me. And believe me, I’m not taking a bullet to the head right now. Thelegionneeds me. At the same time, I need to respect thelegion, mybrood, and thePerg.
I turn my head and look at Peri.
You stupid fucker.
“Peri, the prostitute had a lover and that lover has a family. You’re going to kill the family. Make it look like an accident. It’ll drive the lover absolutely insane. It’ll kill him too. That’s just how this goes.”
“Yes,” Peri says. “That’s right. Things happen. I will handle this.”
“Well spoken,” Mr. Seven says. The gun is no longer pointed at me. “And once this is completed, this matter will be put to rest for good. Before anyone even thinks it…why not just take out the lover? That’s not how we do things. You fuck with us and you have a family? You just murdered your own family. Isn’t that right, Tyrant?”
“Yes,” I say.
“Do you have a problem with what’s been said?” Luc asks me.
I glance at him and don’t respond. A huge sign of disrespect to Luc. He lunges for me and we are nose to nose.
“Do you have a fucking problem with what’s been said?”
“No,Sir,” I growl.
“Get the fuck out of thePerg, Tyrant. You’re no longer needed here.”
As much as I want to explode, I don’t. I turn and exit, leaving Peri behind. He’ll receive all the necessary information. It’s fucked up to think some innocent people are going to die, but that’s life. Innocent people die every day. Guilty people die every day too. And just the same, innocent people live long lives, as do guilty ones.
We all die. There’s no escaping it. Fuck dying. Fuck death.
Plus, why the hell do I care about some guy’s family?
I have my own claimed one to worry about.
