There’s a reason Des’s name isDestroy. He fits the part. He’s the biggest piece of shit I’ve ever met in my life.
Well, that’s not true. My father fits right in with Des. Luc too. Fuck them all. Those who stand at the throne in thePerg.
“You put your arm around her,” I say. “And then you dropped something in her drink.”
“Did you touch another’sclaimed one?”
The voice is thick and powerful. I curl my lip. It’s my goddamn brother. Everyone moves out of the way, giving Luc a clear path to Des and me.
Luc stands there, shirtless, ripped with sweaty muscle, a white towel around his neck. I keep my mouth shut.
The reality here is that without Des actually doing something to Serafina, I’ve got nothing to go by. He drugged her drink for fun. Just to see what would happen. Just to get under my skin. Thrusting me and her closer together.
Fuck, for all I know, he wants things sped up. Maybe he has something going on outside ofSAand he needs a wife soon.
At any given time for any given reason we can be plucked right off campus and sent out into the world. I’ve seen it happen before. And once we leave, if it’s for good, we give up our name and go back to our birth name.
So, yeah, if you’re keeping score, my name isn’t reallyTyrant. And Des’s name really isn’tDestroy.Same for Demo. He’s not reallyDemonic. You get the picture.
“I asked a question,” Luc says.
“I put my arm around my future wife,” Des says. “Playfully. For, what, five seconds, if that.”
Luc glances at me.
“I’ll be the first to admit, I wanted to get under Ty’s skin,” Des says. “He’s a fucking prick and I hate his guts. Now he’s accusing me of drugging hisclaimed one. Can you believe this guy? Total psycho.”
“Tyrant?” Luc says with a nod.
My jaw tightens. I have nothing to say. I refuse to play this game. Going back and forth. Arguing over this. In front of Luc? No fucking way.
“If you don’t respond, there’s nothing I can do,” Luc says.
I step toward Des. Sin and Demo get in my way. The look in Des’s eyes… hiding behind his pretend prestige. His father is the reason why he stands next to the throne. We all have a place here.
“Just leave a little bit of her left for me, Ty,” Des says.
Des grins. He’s such a sick fuck. He wants me to ruin Serafina and then hand her off to him.
He’ll just drug her, use her, never love her. Never care for her. She’ll be forced into having a few kids, just for appearances. She’ll end up on drugs and probably finish it all off with a stint at rehab or just ending her life.
None of this matters though. It sure as fuck should not matter to me. My only job is to devour Serafina’s cunt. Fuck her cunt so hard she’ll be popping pain pills just to breathe. And then her ass… oh, yes, I will take her ass…
Demo pats a hand against my chest. “Let it go for now, man.”
I knock Demo’s hand out of the way and give him a shove. He tenses up and I use my eyes to dare him to take a swing.
I turn away and Luc steps to his left, getting right into my path. My brother and I stare at each other. Goddamn us both for having our father’s eyes. The same damn color. Shape. Size.
I can rat Des out right now. He’ll get punished. For what though? What does it change? Nothing. It’s all predetermined.
I get to breakmy claimed onedown into nothing… leave her with nothing but a desire for more pleasure and a sense of obedience that will serve her well.
Only then can she be handed off to Destroy for him to marry.
