“Always am,” I assured him.

He hung up, and I set my phone back down on the nightstand, my chest aching.

Wanting someone who clearly didn’t want me in the same way fuckingsucked.

I’d been riding on cloud nine ever since Trigger’s phone call. It’d been a couple of months since I’d last seen him, and while he called me every day, texted me throughout the day unless he was on a run, and did a couple of video calls with me every week so I could see him—and to watch me get off and so I could watch him, too—I missed him like fucking crazy.

The moment I heard the rumble of his bike turning into the lot, I raced out of the kitchen. Chase, who was sitting at the bar with a cup of coffee and working on sorting our finances, chuckled and set his pencil down, smiling at me. I grasped his face in my hands, smacked a big kiss on his lips, and then continued rushing for the door.

The moment I flung it open, I raced to where Trigger was just shutting off his bike. He quickly removed his helmet and stood, catching me in his arms just as I reached him. My legs wound around his waist, and our lips met in a hungry kiss that tore at every single one of my senses.

God, I’d missed this man.

“Hi,” I breathed once our lips had parted.

He squeezed my ass in his massive hands and pressed a kiss to my forehead. “Hey, sunshine.” My belly swooped at the familiar nickname. He gently set me on my feet before grabbing his small duffel off the back of his bike. Grabbing my hand in his, he laced our fingers together, leading me toward the clubhouse. Chase was waiting outside for us, and he and Trigger did a weird hand-slap-bro-hug thing before Chase led him inside.

Scorpion was waiting for us, and he nodded once at Trigger. “Need you in my office once you’re settled in.” My chest tightened at the command. I knew Trigger never got to come here for pleasure, but it didn’t stop me from hoping every single time. But once again, he was here for work.

Work that was probably dangerous and could very well get him killed.

I knew it was the life of an outlaw. It was a life both he and Chase had chosen, butGod, I fucking hated this aspect of it.

“Give me a few minutes, and I’ll meet you there,” Trigger told him before heading toward the stairs. Chase headed up first, and we followed behind them.

“How long are you here for?” I asked.

Trigger shrugged. “I don’t know, sunshine. Until the job is done, I guess.”

I frowned, wishing I could ask what the job was, but I knew better. Club business wasn’t my business, and he was clearly here for the club. I hated that I had to come second, but I’d agreed to that when I’d agreed to be Chase’s old lady. And I’d agreed to it again when I decided I wanted to be with Trigger, too.

After the way my mother had been treated by my dad, I’d always been wary of men who wore leather on their backs. But Chase and Trigger had both proven to be so different from the men I’d grown up around.

This was just part of the life. And while some parts of it pissed me off, I loved my life now. I loved being with Chase and Trigger, and I loved the big family I now had. I wouldn’t trade this life for the world. I wouldn’t trade my men for anything either. I was happy for the first time in alongtime.

Chase pushed open the door to our apartment, walking inside. Trigger let me walk in ahead of him, and then, he trailed in behind me, setting his bag on the bed. Chase settled at his desk. Our finance book was sitting there, along with his cup of coffee. He must have brought them up when I’d gone outside to meet Trigger.

“Sophia made space in the two top drawers of our dresser for you,” Chase informed him. I’d been busy making sure Trigger had everything he might need while I was waiting for him to get here, which felt likeforever. “There’s space for your shit in the bathroom, too. Make yourself at home.” With that, he turned back to face our books.

“Such a warm welcome, Chase,” Trigger teased. A smile tilted my lips. Chase was usually a pretty chill, outgoing man, but he’d been super busy lately between the club and my bookstore. I understood him being short with Trigger. Just as I knew Trigger didn’t take it to heart.

“He’s been a little overwhelmed,” I quietly explained, not wanting Trigger upset with Chase. Trigger wrapped an arm around my neck and pulled me to him. “My accountant quit, so Chase is juggling my store plus our regular finances and club business.” I smiled a little and reached up to grip Trigger’s waist. “We’re trying to buy a house.”

Trigger grinned and leaned down to kiss me. “You’re fucking adorable, sunshine.” My cheeks flamed. “I know he’s not agitated with me.” He tucked my hair behind my ear. “You mind unpacking for me? I need to go talk to Scorpion.”

I eagerly nodded. “Yes, of course.” Leaning up, I laced my fingers into his beard before planting a hot kiss on his mouth. “Dinner will be ready soon. Gabriel is cooking.”

Gabriel was Tango’s husband. They didn’t live in the clubhouse anymore, though they had for a while. Tango had bought a piece of property out in the middle of nowhere for them to live, since Gabriel preferred solitude and peace. It was a quiet spot surrounded by trees, and it was about a thirty-minute drive from the clubhouse. Gabriel wasthrivingthere. Every morning, they made the ride to the clubhouse so Gabriel could train with Gidget and Tango, and every evening after dinner, Tango drove them back home. When Tango wasn’t needed at the clubhouse, they usually left after Gabriel’s training and spent the day at home.

Gabriel had learned how to grow his own vegetables and herbs, and a few weeks ago, Tango had planted fruit trees for him. We were constantly getting new vegetables and herbs from Gabriel since he’d planted so much, and I couldn’t wait to see what kind of fruit eventually grew and wound up here, too. I loved cooking with so much fresh produce.

“How is Gabriel?” Trigger asked as he headed for the door.

“He’s doing good,” Chase answered, not looking up from his books. “The boy is thriving. You ought to check in on him while you’re down there. They stuck around today since Gabriel found out you were riding in.”
