“Right,” he cuts her off. “Well, I don’t have any private rooms booked tonight. Lisa can handle the main bar alone, so I guess it’s fine. Sunday you’re off as well, so you better be ready to work on Monday.”

“Thank you, Mr. Mancini!”

She hangs up the call and claps her hands giddily. “A whole free weekend!”

I smile back at her, wondering what the hell is going on. She wouldn’t call Mancini in front of me like that if she really was doing his dirty work, would she? Unless it’s a tactic to disarm me, to get me to trust her more.

Again, my mind spirals into oblivion, trying to piece the facts together. The more I try, the more convoluted everything seems. But if she didn’t kill my father, who did?

That line of thinking will only get me in trouble.

Either this girl is innocent, or she’s playing me like I’m playing her.

Chapter Fourteen

Lux

Spending the entire weekend with Dominic feels like my birthday and Christmas, all rolled into one.

After I talk to Carlo, we settle onto his massive sectional to binge-watch our favorite movies. He introduces me toLock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, which is quite the experience.

When it’s over, I’m ready for something a little more my style so I steal the remote and findEver After. He pretends to moan and groan, but a few minutes into it, I can tell he’s invested. We snuggle as we watch Danielle and Henry fall in love.

“No, but do you see why it’s the perfect movie?”

“Absolutely,” he laughs, stuffing a handful of popcorn in his mouth. “Drew Barrymore.”

“It has a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes, how can you even reduce it to just a hot girl?” I pout, swiping the popcorn from him. “That’s blasphemy…although she’s gorgeous, I won’t fight you on that one.”

“You’re gorgeous,” he growls, tackling me on the sofa. I laugh, trying to fight him off, but the playfulness quickly turns into heat.

Our clothes fly off as he kisses his way down my chest to my belly button. He alternates soft kisses with gentle bites across my hips, nudging my legs apart.

I relax against the sofa, threading my fingers through his hair, relishing in the feel of his breath against my thighs.

“Why do we even bother with clothes?”

“You’re right,” he agrees absent-mindedly. “Let’s become nudists.”

“We’ll join a colony,” I breathe, half-moaning as he traces my pussy with his tongue.

“Better yet,” he growls, replacing it with a finger and making me groan. “We’ll build our own colony.”

As fun as the conversation is, what’s happening between my legs is even better, so I shut up and soak in the pleasure. Hours later, after a blissful orgasm, an entire delivery pizza, and way too much popcorn, I finally peel myself off the sofa.

“No more movies,” I cry, holding my hands up in defeat. Dominic snickers at me from his lazy sprawled out position. “I can’t do it. My eyes are burning.”

A sly smile crosses his face and he hoists himself up, dusting popcorn kernels off his chest. He stares at me like I’m made of magic and fairy dust and I find myself melting in his gaze.

“What?”

“Sleep or adventure?” he asks, smiling up at me. I stroll over, still naked, and kiss the tip of his nose.

“Adventure, always.”

“Thought you’d choose that one,” he growls, pulling me down to straddle him. “Or we can stay right here?”

“Adventure,” I whisper, my hips automatically grinding against him. I do kind of want to stay here forever, but I’m alsocurious as to what he has up his sleeve. He sighs, nuzzling my breasts dramatically, but lifts me off and disappears down the darkened hallway.
