Jackson gives me a sunny grin as I pass by and makes to slip his arm around my shoulder, but Sebastian shoots him a look that his him lifting his hands in a hands off gesture.

Sebastian stands up leaning over to snag my hand and pull me over to him. I go to stand next to him, but he tugs on my arm a little harder and I lose my balance sitting down hard on his lap. If I thought everyone was staring at me before, well that was nothing on this.

“How does this work?” I whisper to him turning my head toward his chest so I don’t have to see all the eyes on us.

“Scan the QR code with your phone to make a donation and then snap a selfie. Easy, peasy.”

A chuckle rumbles through the muscled chest I’m staring at him when I don’t move.

“You’re going to have to turn around.”

“You sure about that?”

“Yup. Unless your phone has voice activated QR code scanning, which would be cool.

I swing around and scan the QR code on the little triangular sign resting on the table. It takes me straight to the site where I can make a donation to the foundation.

“All paid up? Snap away, Frosty.”

I extend my arm as far as it will go to fit his big head in the frame and he leans in until his dark waves mingle with my curls and snap a shot. His hand slides around my waist when I go to slide down.

“Wait a sec. I gotta get one too. You got one more smile in you? Or whatever you’re feeling.”

Um, turned on. That’s what I’m feeling. No need to share that info though, so I quirk my lips up in a smile. “Is that protocol?” I ask.

“Nope, just wanted a shot for my lock screen,” he replies.

“You can’t put that on your lock screen.” The words manage to escape through my clenched teeth. “It’s not like we’re dating or something.”

“What? I like looking at your face. Are you going to be at Wright’s tonight? We finish in half an hour. I’d love to see you there.”

My body might be screaming yes, but my brain is all hell to the no. “Maybe. Ree mentioned she wanted to go.” Red alert, self destruct sequence activated.

“Good. I like the sound of this Ree. Can’t wait to get to know your friend.”

I finally manage to slide off his lap and make my escape. Should I go to the bar? Probably not. Do I want to? Well I’d be lying to myself if I said no.

Chapter 24

Sebastian

Mynervesareprettyshredded at the end of the fan meet and greet session. I’m ready to climb out of my skin in my hurry to get to Wright’s. I hope she shows up. She did come out to the game despite my doubts so I have high hopes.

“What’s wrong with you, Fleet?” Dev asks when I leap out of my seat to rush off. It’s a given we’re all going to Wright’s. After that win and our first game of the season we’re definitely celebrating. Along with half the student population of course, but at least we have our own section reserved there. Team perks. I’m not even really in the mood to go there. I’d really rather go somewhere a lot more private with Abby. My house, her apartment. Heck even my car would be fine at this point. Nah, not Abby. She’s not a cheap ride in my car kind of girl. At least not our first time together. My brain slams down on the brakes with a screech to stop that line of thought. I have zero expectations of sleeping with her tonight. Well the reasonable thinking side of me doesn’t. My cock has other ideas and hasn’t settled down since I pulled her into my lap.

Some of the guys are lingering. Hanging back to talk to some of the ladies who held back and waited for us to finish, but Jackson recognizes my impatience and joins me for the walk over to Wright’s.

A shiver runs down my spine at the blast of cold air that hits my face as we push through the back door. Good. That’ll cool me down a bit before we get there.

“That was a fantastic game, Seb. Good to see you back to your former glory. I was worried about you for a while there.”

“Me too, man. I just got all up in my head. I’m good now.” I’m trying to lock those months of uncertainty into a box in the back of my mind never to revisit again.

“Seems like that girl has been helping you out as much as you’ve been helping her.”

“What?” What’s he talking about?

“That’s when you got your game back.” Our long strides eat up the grass as we stride across campus. “When she showed up.”
