“I’m glad,” he murmured. “Now show me what a good wife you are and come on my fingers.”
A cry tore from her lips as he brought her over the edge and straight into orgasmic bliss.

Even though her family was sad to see her leave, Ellie told them the specialist she was trying to see about regaining her memory had managed to squeeze her in for a last minute appointment. A bit of a white lie, but she couldn’t exactly tell them she was going back to Indonesia on a clandestine mission. After a lot of hugs and kisses, she promised to return soon.
It seemed like the moment they landed in Montana, they immediately turned around and were once again boarding a new plane. Of course, this trip would be much more dangerous. Despite not being overly jazzed about returning to Indonesia, Ellie refused to leave Wes’ side. Now that they’d found each other again, she wasn’t letting him out of her sight or reach.
Spending time with Wes was good for her mind, body and soul. He had a way about him that kept her grounded, calm and hopeful. She wanted her memories back and the more time she spent with Wes, the higher her hopes became that it was only a matter of time. Yes, they could make new memories together, but she didn’t want to forget all the beautiful ones they’d already shared. They had been through a helluva lot together and deserved every happy moment that had happened.
The moment the team was situated on the private jet courtesy of General Mitch Evans, Brand launched a meeting, sharing new intel. While Jayson projected his laptop onto a larger screen everyone could see, Brand informed the team they’d missed one of their original targets.
“We neutralized all five of the ringleaders,” Chaz insisted.
“According to Mitch, we missed this man,” Brand stated, pointing to the image Jayson shared. “We killed his son instead of him.”
Jayson swapped out the son’s picture and replaced it with his father.
“For fuck’s sake,” Lex said, “they look like identical twins.”
“Unless we took DNA, there’s no way anyone would’ve known the difference,” Xander stated.
“The CIA noticed,” Brand said.
“So now we’ve got a warhead to find and another pirate to slay.” Wes was all business and Ellie felt a little thrill to be able to see him in his element. They all were, but she only had eyes for Wes. Sitting beside her, laser-focused on the conversation, cladin a jungle green t-shirt and camouflage cargo pants, he looked like a warrior. Her warrior.
Returning to Indonesia caused a jumbled mix of feelings for her. Being attacked by pirates a year and a half ago had been a random and unfortunate event no one could’ve predicted. This time around she knew Wes would protect her. Of course, she’d also made a couple of friends during her time on the island, so it hadn’t all been bad. Maybe returning to the scene of the crime with Wes at her side would even give her closure.
Whatever happened, she would be there for Wes and his team just like they’d been there for her. It felt like her memories were so close, hovering right outside her grasp. Hopefully this trip was exactly what she needed to push through the barrier and release every last one.
Chapter Fourteen
The team set up their base of operations in a safe house located near the area where they planned on diving that night. Once the warhead was secured, they’d hunt down the pirate. The map indicated the missing nuke was sitting on the seafloor off the coast, in dangerously shallow water less than fifteen feet deep.
“It’s a wonder no one’s found it yet,” Corey said as they dragged their gear inside the house.
Nearby, Wes was checking out the ROV Dylan and Hollis Ford let them borrow. “How exactly does this work again?”
Lex sidled over. “It’s cool as shit. We lower it into the water and use a joystick to move it around. Like playing a video game. Since I picked it up, I think I should be the one to control it.”
“I went, too,” Xander reminded him.
“No way.” Chaz moved up beside them and grabbed the control out of Lex’s hand. “Why should you guys have all the fun?”
“Because we flew down to the Big Easy to pick it up.”
“You look hungover, by the way,” Brand said, voice dry.
Lex gave an innocent shrug. “How am I supposed to visit the Big Easy and not party a little? That would’ve been disrespecting the city itself. It expects debauchery. Besides, didyou know Dylan owns a jazz club on Bourbon Street? Lucky 13. They were mixing us Sazeracs the whole time, and I don’t know about you, Hawke, but I have a standing invitation to go back.”
Xander rolled his eyes.
“I’m sure you do,” Jayson said, smirking. “I hope Dylan doesn’t have any sisters.”
Lex’s face fell. “He does, I met her. Absolutely gorgeous. But she’s married to some big dude who’s a billionaire.”
“Too bad for you,” Chaz said, his tone not sorry at all.
