I shrugged. I didn’t have the faintest clue how to go about any of that. “It sounds like going through a lot of trouble.”
“But you’re worth it. I’ll look into it.”
“But Crowe—”
“Bloom, I know you hold Crowe in high regard, but this isn’t about him or the biker club. This is about proper identification of who you are. Everyone deserves an identity regardless of the situation of their birth, and no one should deprive you of that. I get why Crowe did it, but I can’t approve. There are always ways to get around the red tape. Let me worry about it.”
When dinner ended, I loathed leaving the restaurant. I loved spending time with Logan and talking to him. It was nice doing something normal, something everyone else seemed to do on a regular basis but I didn’t.
“Did you enjoy yourself?” Logan asked as we waited for the server to return with his credit card. The price of the meal wasway too high, but Logan hadn’t batted an eye, so I didn’t mention it.
“I did.” The urge to get up and sit in his lap was strong, but I didn’t want to ruin the night with my neediness, so I clutched my hands in my lap. “I like this—going on a date with you.”
“Then how about we make date night a regular thing? I may not have much time because of work, but when I get off, I’d like to spend it with you. Will you stay over on those days?”
“I was planning to anyway.”
“Of course you were.” Logan leaned forward, and I met him halfway, elated he didn't mind kissing me in public. His hand was gentle against my cheek, and his lips were insistent on mine. I wasn’t ready for the night to end.

LOGAN
“Iwish the night wouldn’t end.”
Hearing Bloom echo my thoughts aloud made me smile as we walked to my car, his hand tucked into the crook of my arm. I haven’t seen him more relaxed. He’d almost had me second-guessing myself when he was reluctant to go out for dinner at a fancy restaurant, but his behavior tonight only confirmed what I already knew. People labeled him a killer, but there was so much more to him, and tonight I’d seen he could carry a conversation and make me smile.
“What if it doesn’t have to?” I asked.
“What do you mean?” I unlocked the door of the car.
“We’ve had dinner. Why don’t we go somewhere for a nightcap and dancing?”
“Dancing?”
“Hmm. Your leg’s healed enough for you to handle it. How about it?”
“Do you mean like a nightclub?”
“Yeah. Have you ever been?”
“A couple of times, but I don’t know if it counted. I didn’t go for dancing.”
I snagged him around the waist and rubbed our noses together. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been. Years. I’ve never wanted to before now. I want to feel your body pressed against mine while we dance.”
His eyes went wide. “I never thought you would want to go to a club. You don’t seem the type.”
“I used to go a lot when I was younger.”
“Yeah? You don’t talk much about when you were younger.”
“Not much to tell.” I hated lying to him, but I didn’t make the rules where my new identity was concerned. As much as I would like to share my past with him, I couldn’t. By doing that, I could risk both our lives. But being with him as Logan, the doctor, was much better than not being with him at all.
I’ll take my wins where I get them.
“All right, I’ll go to a club with you.”
“Good. I’m on a late evening shift for the rest of the week, so we can sleep in.”
