Luther’s eyes were silver smoke, the pupils dark as charcoal. “Trust me?” They seemed to be asking about more than just this moment.

She did, or she was going to—at least in this, at least for tonight. “Yes.”

Luther smiled and helped position her where he wanted her. When she was on her knees in the center of the bed, his body hugged hers as he kissed her neck. She sighed into him, and he gripped her hips.

Equal parts excited and nervous, Anna held her breath, and Luther whispered over her shoulder. “Don’t tense, baby.”

She felt his tip touch her, and she gasped, then blushed in embarrassment. “Sorry,” she muttered.

Luther kissed her shoulder. “Nothing to be sorry about.”

He eased into her slowly, inch by delicious inch. She tried to relax as her body stretched around him. It burned a little, but the pain only added to the pleasure of feeling him inside her. When he entered her fully, Anna froze. She was afraid to move.

Oh. My-lanta!She’d never felt so, so . . . whole. On a contented sigh, she closed her eyes.

Behind her, Luther groaned, “You’re so tight.” Then he started thrusting.

Her eyes popped open, and her pulse took off. With each piston of his hips, the firestorm she’d seen in his eyes became an electric wildfire that spread frantically, burning its way into her soul. It was unstoppable and all-consuming.

With one of his hands, Luther rubbed at the bundle of nerves between her legs. She moaned, and his plunges became more rapid. Her breath sobbed out as the fire raged all around her. The sensation of Luther driving into her while he stroked her was overwhelming. The inferno was coming for her again, and she wasn’t sure how long she would last against the intense heat.

Luther’s breath hissed out as roughly as hers. “Anna,” he ground out. “I’m going to lose it. Come with me, baby.”

“I—” Her breathing hitched, and her words became a scream as the orgasm ripped through her. Anna’s arms gave way, but Luther held onto her hips, plunging into her one, two, more times, before he shouted with the thunder of his own release and slumped on top of her.

She sank into the mattress under his weight. It was hard to breathe, but she didn’t care. The fire had devastated her. Surely nothing but residue remained after burning so hot. She hadn’t known sex could be this good, or she wouldn’t have waited so long to try it after Dan.

Luther grunted and rolled off her. She turned her head to look at him, and he was smiling at her, his eyes a gleaming blue sky after the gray of the storm.

The smell of the fire they’d created between them was a pungent aroma that hung in the air, and Anna blushed, thinking of all they’d done.

Luther chuckled and pulled her into his chest. “What are you thinking about, Anna?”

She tucked her face into his side, trying to hide the blush. “You. Us. I can’t . . . I don’t . . .”Gawd! She was stuttering now. Anna bit her lip and took a deep breath to pull herself together. “That was amazing.”

With her head on his chest, she felt his hum of agreement. “We’re going to do it again.”

Anna laughed and sat up so she could see him. His eyes were half-closed, and one of his arms was bent, his head resting on his hand. He looked extremely sexy but also very pleased with himself. For some reason, she found that charming, and she wanted him again too.

Anna shook her head at herself. What had gotten into her? She snorted when her brain supplied the answer.Oh, right.

Curious how long she’d have to wait, Anna trailed a finger down his washboard abs.

Luther’s eyes opened fully, and he raised an eyebrow at her. “You’re playing with fire, Miss Hendricks.”

Anna chuckled. “Oh, I know.”

???

“Can I ask you something?” Anna’s head was on Luther’s chest after the second round of earth-shattering orgasms he’d given her. With her fingers, she traced lazy circles over his abs.

“I need food before we do that again, Shortcake.”

Anna giggled. The thought of making love a third time in the same night should have been shocking to her, but instead, it filled her with excitement. Her stomach jumped in anticipation, but . . . “That’s not what I was asking.”

“Oh.”

She sat up so she could see his face. He was grinning, and his eyes were closed. His dimples tempted her to kiss them, but she knew where that would lead. Anna shook her head at herself.Thatwould have to wait. She had a serious question to ask him—about his dad.
