“Oh, that’s… surprising but nice.” Pink colored her cheeks. He liked that very much too. “It is said we sprouted straight from the plants which is why we have skin and hair to match.” Her lips curled upward, revealing small, flat fangs that would never be of use in a fight. “Of course, it’s likely a silly explanation, but I always liked it just the same.”

He couldn’t look away. “What is that expression on your face?”

Her lips dropped as her eyebrows drew together. “What expression?”

Digging all five claws on one hand into the rock for stability, he used his other to push his lips upward. “Like this. But I can’t do the eyes. Soft.”

She blinked again. “A smile? Do you not know what that is? It usually comes with a feeling of happiness.”

He grunted.

She paused. “Oh, ah… do you not know that word either?”

“No.” He shoved his claws back into the rock, sending a few small pebbles tumbling below. He didn’t like this sensation. As if he was lacking.

“I see.” She rushed on. “Happiness is the opposite of rage and fear. It is the way you feel when you see or hear something you like. I often feel happy when I think about some of those within my clan.”

The strange tightness returned to his chest. “You will feel that way about me now.”

The V at her eyebrows deepened. “You cannot simply order someone to feel happy in your presence. It has to be earned.”

Then he was in trouble. “No one has ever looked at me like that before. Or felt that way around me.”

She blinked. Then blinked again. “I… I suppose that makes sense.”

He nodded. “Yes. It is always this that I see.” He screwed up his features, opening his mouth wide on a silent scream. “Or this.” He narrowed his gaze in an attempt to look as murderous as his worthiest opponents. “Never this smile face.”

She shivered, but he thought he saw something softer, and perhaps sadder, in her stare as well. “Yes. I can see why that would be all you know.”

“Tell me more of this happiness.”

“Ah…” A cute wrinkle appeared between her eyes. “Well, what causes this feeling is different for everyone.”

To him, happy was her scent. The colors of silver and pink. The sensation of his palm against her skin. The invisible tether that ran between them, anchoring him as nothing ever had before. The new galaxy of thoughts and colors, words and possibilities beyond the veil of red rage that had only unlocked inside him after he’d touched her.

To him, happy was her.

“I like this feeling of happy.”

Her lips turned up, a sound as pretty as her smile humming from her throat. “I like it too.”

“Good. You will come down and we will both have this happiness feeling as you rock against my cock.”

Her lips flattened.

His gut told him she would not be floating back down to give him this happiness feeling any time soon.

He growled.

She hissed back at him. “S-stop looking at me like that.”

“Like what?” He calculated the distance. Maybe if he got the angle just right…

“Like you are about to gobble me up.”

“Yes.” He licked his lips. “That is exactly what I will do once you are beneath me once more.”

Her body dipped, a frightened gasp slipping from her—while the icy sensation spread from his neck to his chest.
