“Okay.” Eden walked away, knowing from the heat skating down her back that he was watching her.

She made it to the food barn and smiled when she saw Mary and Clinton behind the buffet.

“Hey, guys,” Eden said.

Mary smiled and waved. “How’s the class going?”

Eden grinned. “Good. It’s fun.”

“Watch your back. The other girls in the class were calling you a show-off, oh, and old and fat.” Mary laughed.

Eden snorted. “I know I’m curvy, but I like it like that. I don’t want to be a beanpole. I want to look like a woman.”

“I’m with you,” Mary said. “My husband loves my curves.”

“Because he’s a smart man. As far as the age goes, I am old enough to be their mother.”

The two women laughed.

“I know for a fact the three of them came to this class for one reason, and that was to get Cain’s attention.”

“He’s twice their age,” Eden commented.

“It doesn’t matter to the single women around here. He’s handsome and rich. That’s all the girls are after.”

“That’s sad,” Eden said. “They need to be with men their own age.”

“I think so, too,” Mary nodded. “But kids nowadays don’t want to work for anything and feel entitled to whatever they want.”

“What will Cain do?”

“This has happened a few times. He mostly just ignores them. If they don’t get the hint, he’ll start growling at them.”

Eden chuckled. “Does that work?”

Mary shrugged. “Most of the time. I think he’s going to have a problem with these three, though.”

“I hope not.”

Mary handed her the dish. “How about I get you a plate? You can sit at the same table with us again if you’d like.”

“That would be great,” Eden said.

The rest of the day flew by. The young man she’d been paired with was finally getting the courage to touch the animal and even smiled a few times.

“It will get easier, Matt,” Eden said as she handed the horse over to one of the ranch hands.

“I’m glad you’re the one with me. You calm me down and make it fun.”

Eden patted his shoulder. “You’re a good student.”

She had time to shower before dinner and took a few minutes to relax. She was really enjoying herself, and she hoped she’d be able to help more.

The only problem was the way Cain affected her. All he had to do was look at her in a certain way or use a certain tone of voice. Even just his scent threw her body into overdrive and made it hard to concentrate.

Eden knew in the next few weeks, she’d have to spendas much time in her cabin as possible or away from the ranch. Anything to put space between her and Cain.
