He heard her gasp, but she stayed silent. “I have wanted to ask you to move in with me, but I kept telling myself it was too soon, and I didn’t want to scare you off. The thought of you leaving was driving me nuts. You’re everything I’ve ever wanted in a woman, and I’m not giving you up unless that’s what you want. Even then, I’ll fight like hell.”
Eden stayed quiet, which made him nervous. “Did you hear me?”
“Yes. You told me not to talk,” she said.
He raised his eyes toward the ceiling as if to ask for help. “You’re my sweet little sub, and you always will be. Now, tell me where you’re at so I can come and get you.”
Cain heard her move around on the bed.
“Cain, can you come and get me tomorrow? I don’t want you to catch this bug.”
He felt like growling but held back. “I need to see you right now, Pet. Besides, I never get sick.”
He thought he heard her grumble at that and smiled. “I need you. I need to feel like you need me, too.”
“I do.”
“Then tell me where you are.”
He waited a long moment.
“I’m at the Hilton by the airport. I’m in Room 213.”
“I want you to rest, and I’ll be there shortly. If you can, take the chain off the door, and I’ll have them open it for me. If you’re sleeping, I don’t want to disturb you. We’ll come back home.”
“I can do that.”
“Good. See you soon.”
He stuck his phone in his pocket and grabbed a few blankets and pillows from the linen closet before going outside. He laid the passenger seat all the way back and made a bed for her. He would have made it in the back where there was more room, but he needed to be able to touch her on the way home.
Cain called her daughter.
“Hello,” Madison said.
“Hi, It’s Cain. I’m going to get her now. We just got done talking, and then she told me where she was. I don’t want you two to worry anymore. I will take very good care of her.”
“You love her, don’t you?” Madison asked.
“Yes. I love her with every cell in my body, and I need you girls to get used to the fact she’ll be living here now, but I want you to come anytime you want. The more, the better. I’ll have two rooms set up that are just yours, so you can keep anything here you want to.”
He would have promised them anything to accept him because it would make Eden’s life easier.
Chapter Fourteen
Madison broke into his thoughts.
“Hey, I have Chloe here. She’s listening.”
“Good. I’ll have your mom call tomorrow or the next day. She’s going to be in bed until I think she’s well enough to get dressed and come outside,” he said, making both girls chuckle.
“Good luck with that,” Chloe said.
“Once you get to know me, you’ll find there is nothing I wouldn’t do to keep her safe. If I have to chain her to the bed, I will.”
Cain looked at the signs. “I’m just about there. She’ll be taken care of, so I don’t want you girls to worry anymore. All right?”
“We’ll try,” Madison said. “Give her a big hug and kiss for us.”
