“That I’m yours. That you’ll never stop. That you…want me too.”
I roll my lips together as I stare up at the ceiling. I don’t know what to say. Yes? Maybe? I don’t know. It’s complicated. I mean, we’re already sharing my wife. Now I’m supposed to go to my wife and ask if it’s okay that I fuck her boyfriend? Then again, I already know what her answer will be. This whole mess started at her insistence in the first place.
I feel Liam’s hands begin to unwind from me, and I panic, spinning around to face him as I stop him. I force his arms to stay around me, and a look of confusion passes across his face. Leaning forward, I press my lips to his, lifting my hands to cradle his face. It’s not a kiss of passion and wild abandon. It’s not a carnal craving where I’m savagely dominating him. It’s tender, soft, and I hope to God it conveys everything my words can’t.
When we pull apart, I keep my hold on his face as I look into his eyes and speak.
“Yes.”
Chapter Nine
Skyla
Stephanie and I spent the entire day in bed. Talking, laughing, crying. We vegged out and watched way too many episodes of any and every trash TV show we could get our hands on. The next morning, we woke up, Ronan made us breakfast, and Steph told us she would be staying somewhere the next town over for a little while.
I was relieved that she was staying in the States, partially because I missed her, but also because it feels like there was more to Mom’s death than she’s letting on. Or at least more suspicions that she has that she isn’t saying. I tried broaching the topic several ways yesterday, and each attempt was met with a not-so-subtle deflection.
I’m helping clean up the kitchen when I notice Asher and Liam whispering in the hallway. My brows knit together as I lean past Ronan to watch them. Liam is talking to Asher about something, and Asher is shaking his head when I catch his eye. They both tense and I give a small smile and a wave because, honestly, I don’t know what else to do.
Asher blows out a breath before walking into the kitchen, Liam following closely behind him. They both have serious looks on their faces, and I turn to face Ronan.
“Could you give us a second?” I ask.
He looks at them before turning back to me with a sweet smile.
“No problem,” he says as he bends down, pressing a kiss against my cheek before he nods at the guys and grabs his keys.
Once the thunk of the front door sounds throughout the house, the silence is deafening. I wait for someone to talk but when neither does, I speak.
“Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, no. I don’t know,” Asher says as he runs his fingers through his hair.
I frown at that and Liam shakes his head.
“What he meant to say was, we’ve realized that we have feelings for each other.”
I do my best to hold back the smile that spreads across my face. Smashing my lips together I nod my head.
“Okay.”
“And we were wondering, I guess, hoping, that you’d be okay with that,” Liam says as his hand laces with Asher’s.
I’m surprised at how easily his fingers twine around Liam, and I’m even more surprised when I see them trade a soft smile. It literally makes me all gooey inside, and I don’t even attempt to hold back my smile this time.
“Of course it is. I want you both happy.”
“And we want you happy, princess,” Asher says. “We love you so much. We don’t want to mess anything up.”
I shake my head as I stand between them, looking at both of them as I speak.
“You can’t mess anything up. I love you both, so much. As long as being together doesn’t mean that you’ll toss me to the side, I’m so happy for you guys.”
Asher scoffs as Liam says, “Yeah, like that could ever be a thing.”
I smile as my eyes come to Asher, curious on how my sweet and uneasy boy is doing. To my delight, he looks happy, at peace, and it warms me from my head to my toes.
“One request, though,” I say.
