“Just some work stuff.”

“Uh huh, and is that work stuff for the military that you’re supposedly out of, or work for my father?” Asher asks as he comes into the room as well.

“What do you mean?” I ask carefully.

Asher rolls his eyes as he leans against the counter from across from me.

“It means, you’re sketchy, Wes, and I don’t like sketchy in my home or around my wife.”

“Or your boyfriend?” I challenge, nodding my head towards Liam.

Asher’s jaw tenses, but he doesn’t speak.

“Just admit that you’re jealous, Ash. No shame in it. I’m definitely more experienced than you; it’s understandable that you’d be worried I could sneak your bottom right out from under you…no pun intended,” I goad.

Fire flashes in Asher’s eyes as he reaches for Liam, hauling him to his side. He crushes his lips against Liam, keeping his eyes on me the entire time. I give him a bored glance as their tongues tangle together before Asher rips himself away. Liam blinks like he’s in a daze before a satisfied grin spreads across his face.

“I like this kind of pissing match. Your turn, Wesley,” Liam says as he makes an exaggerated kissing face.

Asher rolls his eyes and smacks the back of Liam’s head as I laugh.

“Don’t worry, kid. I’m not out to steal Liam, I’ve got Skyla.”

“We’ve all got Skyla,” Liam interjects.

I frown at that. I don’t like the way he just said that. Apparently, neither does Asher if the look he shoots Liam is anything to go off. Liam thinks on his words for a second before his eyes fill with panic.

“Fuck, that’s not what I meant. I love her; you guys know that. I just meant he wasn’t special for having her…wait, fuck. That’s not what I meant either! Shit…don’t tell Sky, alright?” Liam grumbles as he runs his hands through his hair.

“Don’t tell me what?” Skyla asks as the door sounds behind her, Ronan following in the room after her.

All three of us simultaneously light up at the sight of her, though Liam is the first to close the distance. He practically gallops over to her like a jackass before he’s crushing his lips against hers. When he pulls away, he lifts her up into his arms, spinning her around until she’s giggling, asking him to put her down.

“Missed you, babygirl!”

“It’s only been a day,” Skyla laughs.

“It was a day too long,” Liam pouts.

She rolls her eyes as her gaze lands on Asher. He holds out his arms for her, and she moves to him quickly, allowing him to pull her in for a hug and a brief kiss before looking up at him.

“Hi,” she smiles.

“Hey, princess. How was it?”

“Good,” she says as her eyes land on me.

“Hey, little one,” I smile softly.

“Hi, Wes. Have you guys been playing nice while we were gone?” she teases.

I grin at that. “Oh yeah, we are the best of friends now, isn’t that right, Asher?”

He gives me a flat look as Ronan snorts and claps my shoulder.

“Oh, I’m sure.”

I look up at him with a guilty smirk because he knows me way too fucking well.
