Looking at the warehouse I figured it was safe to say that Ashlynn and Farelli are definitely inside. Gio was already notifying everyone of where we were, most only a few minutes out. Gio wanted to wait, but he obviously forgot who I am.

I decided to just fucking go for it. I grabbed the sawed off shotgun I brought and 2 handguns as I jumped out of the car. I heard Gio shout for me to stop but I had no intention to do any such thing. Not too long after, I heard his footsteps right behind me. I crested the corner and peeked around the edge of the shrubs, surveying my best path. Before I snuck past the entrance gate a blood curdling scream pierced through the night sky that caused chills to run up and down my body. Especially because I know that it was Ashlynn who made that noise.

Panicking I burst through the gates, throwing any tact I was going to use out the window. I started laying down guys left and right. My men must have been covering my ass because I hadn’t been shot, well again, as I raced towards the warehouse. I looked to my left and saw the doctor Gio brought with, holding a gun in his hand. Unfortunately, the next moment I saw him take a bullet to the chest and collapse to the ground. I couldn’t rush to his side to help him like I wanted to, I had to push on.

The closer I got the more clearly I could hear the screams. I heard her distinctly say stop and please. I pumped my legs faster down the driveway, almost reaching the main door when a guy tackled me from my blind side dropping me to the ground on the arm I was shot in.

Going down knocked the wind out of me and it took me a minute to remember how to breathe. The man was arrogant, standing over me grinning when he should have continued to attack me. His mistake was my gain. I kicked my leg out, effectively sweeping him off his feet and on to his ass. I jumped on top of him and unleashed all my fury and fear on to the guys face. I didn’t stop till a hand clamped over my shoulder. I looked up crazed to see Gio standing above me.

“We got them taken care of out here. Let’s move.”

I gave a terse nod and pushed the limp body away from me as I stood. Creeping up to the door we decide there is no way they didn’t just hear us. Fuck it. I barge through the door, gun drawn but all I can see is a barely lit warehouse, except for one spot in the middle of the room.

Ashlynn is only wearing my dress shirt and her legs are tied apart on a table with medical tools strewn around her. It doesn’t take me longer than a second to guess what they were doing to her. No. They wouldn’t dare. It couldn’t have happened. I couldn’t have been too late. I go to take a step forward but Ashlynn screams, “No! Luca, don’t! It’s a trap!”

No sooner do the words tumble from her lips does a bullet whiz by my head from the dark corner to my right. I start shooting wildly into the darkness where I think the shot came from, hoping I will hit someone in my attempt. I hear a scream and assume I was right.

Andrew Baxter stumbles into the light gasping as he holds his stomach where I apparently shot him. That mother fucker was in on this, he was trying to take her from me. I begin to shoot into all of the dark spaces and a few men fall to the ground while firing their own return shots. The rest of my men have filtered in behind me and begin infiltrating the dark spaces, killing anyone in them. I run to Ashlynn and start untying her from the table. She is hysterically sobbing making my heart shatter with each tear.

“I am so sorry. I-” She cuts me off with a scream before I can finish.

“Behind you!”

I turn around to see William Adams with a crowbar ready to swing on the back of my head. I dodge his aimless swing and drive a hard kick to his kneecap causing a loud snap to ring through the air. He yelps in pain and falls to the ground cradling his leg.

“So, you have been working for Farelli huh?” I ask as I bring my foot back to kick him in the side.

William grunts before he starts laughing hysterically as he rocks back and forth on the ground. I can’t deny he looks a little psychotic right now. I flick my gaze up to Ashlynn in question but she is still watching William with a wary gaze.

“You idiot. He works for me,” he spits. “After all, he was the one I hired to take out your parents and that thug of an uncle. Too bad you weren’t in the car like planned. You have caused more trouble just by breathing than you will ever know.”

The room instantly chills and my hands begin to tremble. He hired the hit on my family? And Farelli is the one that carried it out? We tried to look into my family’s death but could not find any evidence that it was anything more than an accident. Of course, I knew there are no such things as accidents in this world. They are dead. Both of them, and I am going to enjoy every single fucking second.

“I am going to take great pleasure in killing you William,” I say lowly.

I pull out my gun and point it at the side of his head, taking pleasure in the flicker of fear that sparks in his eyes. Just before I can pull the trigger, I feel cold steel press in to the back of my head.

“Unfortunately, I can’t let you do that,” a familiar voice says behind me. My eyes widen as I turn around.

“Mario? It was you? You are the traitor?” Disbelief coating my words. He has been loyal to the Mariano family for over 30 years, or so I thought. He gives a dark chuckle and shakes his head,

“You never did see what was right in front of you. Blinded by the idea of loyalty. No one is loyal in this world stupid boy, it’s every man for himself. I personally am tired of standing by while you run what is rightfully mine. William here will be a very important asset to me while I lead the Mariano family.”

“You?” I ask incredulously. “You aren’t a Mariano!”

He rolls his eyes in annoyance. “No but that is not an actual rule, more of a guideline. I have been pushed aside to make room for your father, then you and I am done. It is my time. This city is mine now.”

“What about Farelli? You work with him and he helps you gain control of the family. What, now you live in peace?”

“Of course not. Look around you,” he says pointing to the room littered with dead bodies, my men nowhere to be seen. They must be casing the perimeter. Fuck they will never know it was him that kills me. Mario will probably blame someone else and say he got here too late to save me. Everyone will buy it, why wouldn’t they?

“They were a small family to begin with and you and your men have effectively annihilated them all. I already killed Farelli. Problem solved.” He gives me a crooked grin showing yellow teeth before chuckling once more.

“But first, I think it’s time we take care of this bitch once and for all,” he says, still smiling as he swings his gun to Ashlynn.

That kicks me in to motion and I leap for his arm. The shot goes off and I hear Ashlynn scream. Mario is slightly distracted by the action and I take the opportunity and turn the gun into his chest, gripping his shoulder in place while I empty the clip. His eyes widen for a moment then freeze. His body stiffens under my grip before he slumps to the ground.

I turn around to see Ashlynn clutching damn near the same spot that she was shot in last time. Shit, can this girl catch a break? I turn her around gently and breathe a sigh of a relief that she has an exit wound. I rip off a clean part of my shirt and apply pressure. I look up and meet eyes with William while he hobbles for his life out of the warehouse. He seems to be the only one that made it out of their group, as Andrew is at our feet dead in a pool of his own blood. The doors burst open in seconds and in comes my men with Gio in the front.
