Instead of following the three of them into the kitchen, Victoria stayed put.
Okay, time to let the cat out of the bag.
Lifting a finger, she tapped it against her lips thoughtfully, and gazed at the house with a critical eye, humming loudly and dramatically.
“Hmmm.”
Peeking at her guys from the corner of her eye to ensure they were watching her, she sighed and cocked her head like she was considering something.
“What is it, Vee?” Thegan asked curiously.
“I just—” Another sigh. “You know, I think we might need to do some renovations.”
“What!” Thorn looked taken aback.
“Yeah. I just don’t think it’squitebig enough.”
At that, their expressions twisted with confusion. Understandable considering they had a massive bedroom for the four of them, an almost equally large master bathroom, and a bedroom for Snitch complete with his own bathroom. Every room was large enough to allow Tesha and Luna’eva to sleep inside on the rare occasions they wanted to do so.
“Not big enough?” Thegan echoed.
Vi’kail’s eyes narrowed to slits. “I know no one in the complex is foolish enough or suicidal enough to court you, so you can’t be wantin’ to add another mate.”
Swallowing hard, bracing for the worst while desperately hoping for the best, Victoria met their gazes and very deliberately laid her hand over her stomach.
“We’re going to need more room because our family is about to get a new member.”
Her heart was hammering a mile a minute, and she didn’t think she’d ever been so nervous in her life as she waited for it to sink in.
Thegan was the first to catch on. Whooping loudly, he threw the green potato-like things he’d been cutting carelessly over his shoulder and lunged for her, scooping her up and spinning her in a circle.
“What the crik is going on,” Vi’kail demanded.
“She breeds!” Thegan boomed, startling a laugh out of her.
“Breeds? He means I’m pregnant.”
Thorn made a choked sound and lunged for Thegan, whacking him on the back of the head. “Gods’ wrath, Thegan! Put her down before you shake it loose!”
Victoria chuckled, tears of happiness beginning to overflow and run down her cheeks. “I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work that way, Thorn.”
He grunted, “I will not risk it.”
Thegan reluctantly set her on her feet just as Vi’kail approached, eyes wide and glazed.
“You’re sure, baby? You’re… with child?”
Moving so she could glance between all three, she nodded. “Yeah, I’m sure. I know we haven't really talked about kids. Are y’all… happy?”
Vi’kail, her fierce, deadly ex-soldier, bent to cup her cheeks as tears slid down his own. His voice a hoarse rasp, he whispered, “I couldn’t possibly be happier, little flower.
Choking back a sob, she looked at Thorn. “Grumpy?”
He was smiling wider than she’d ever seen, his bi-colored eyes soft and full of love as he pulled her against him in a hug. “This is a gift, my heartsmate, one I cherish.”
She let out a breath of relief then pressed a kiss to his stomach and turned to face Thegan.
“You need not even ask, my beautiful, precious, little mate. I love her already and you, more than anything in this world or any other.”
