To me he just nodded his head. I supposed it was better than not acknowledging me at all.
“Chelle, Aiden’s here.”
She walked out of her room in a pretty flower dress. I had no idea where she’d gotten it from. Maybe she’d borrowed it from Taylor.
She stood there frozen as the two of them just stared at each other. Both their jaws went slack.
“Chelle,” he said almost reverently. “You look lovely.”
I made of face of confusion and looked to Lachlan for answers. He just shrugged.
My sister started hyperventilate.
“You were seriously going to take my sister as a mate?”
Tears moistened her eyes.
He stepped forward and pulled her into his arms.
“I didn’t know. How could I? I’m so sorry.”
“Uh, what the hell is going on?”
“True mates. Aren’t you?”
“Yes,” Chelle admitted.
“You’re serious?”
They both nodded as they continued to stare at each other.
“Um, wow. So I guess now would be a good time to tell you that Lachlan is my true mate and we’ve already sealed our bond, so you can’t actually have me anyway.”
My mate pulled me into his arms and kissed me.
“See. I told you everything would work itself out.”

Epilogue
Three months later.
“Come on, you’re late for school,” I yelled through the house.
“Relax. We’re not even late,” Toby yelled back.
“But I have to drop you off and then get to the airport, remember?”
“I don’t know why I can’t just drive like a normal American high schooler.”
“I dunno. Maybe because you haven’t passed your driving test yet?”
“Whatever. I can drive. No one would notice.”
“Toby, just come on. Everyone else it already waiting in the van.”
Yup, it wasn’t a car anymore, no Jeep, or even SUV. I was not the proud owner of damn mini-van. Tilly loved that thing though and said it made her life easy when having to tote my siblings around.
