“Huh?”

“I said yes. The Raglan were monsters and they did a lot of horrible things to a lot of people, Lucy. I told you, I’ve been dealing with the fall out for years.”

I knew there were kids like Vada out there. I’d even assisted in delivering a few, but I hadn’t expected him to know about them.

“Look, we have a family here who adopted three of them, triplets. They are all Vada’s age.”

“Alice,” I whispered.

“Alice? You mean Mary Alice? So you already know Shelby and Ben’s kids?”

“What? No. Well maybe. Sort of.”

He chuckled. “Okay?”

“Alice and I were pregnant at the same time in the same facility. There was an attack or something. I don’t know. I thought she’d died, but during the big rescue I’d heard her babies had survived. One of the men that saved us adopted them. I had forgotten all about that. They’re here?”

He grinned down at me and nodded. “They are and they are thriving almost three-year-olds, just like your daughter.”

“Vada was born that day, too.”

“I didn’t know that.”

“You’re really not freaked out by her?”

“Never.”

“Are those other babies here?”

His smiled warmed me from the inside.

“They are. I’ll be happy to introduce you to Shelby.”

“And the Pack accepts them?”

“They do. Kyle would honestly banish anyone who called them an abomination.”

Another sob escaped me. It was hard to comprehend what I was hearing.

Vada wasn’t the only one.

I suddenly realized I was still standing in his arms. He was so far into my personal space that my fight or flight instincts should have kicked in.

I took a step back making things awkward between us.

“Sorry,” I mumbled.

He shoved his hands in his pockets. Whether it was intentional or not, that small motion made my heart flutter and I felt somehow unimaginably safer with this man.

CHAPTER 6

MICAH

Lucy had letme hold her and comfort her. It was so much more than I had imagined possible when I left Kyle’s place and drove around until I found the house I’d seen from the woods.

Now that she had taken a step back and severed our physical connection, I felt cold and empty inside. I wanted to feel her warmth surrounding me again. I could quickly become addicted to it, to her.

I wasn’t thinking when I left Kyle’s place and drove straight to Lucy’s even though he had sworn me to secrecy and explained how she didn’t want anyone to know.
