The clicking exploded into a purr and he quickly removed his shirt then reached out to finger mine. He didn’t try to remove it, but watched me with a question in his gaze. Pulse picking up speed, I pulled my shirt off. There’d been no time to put on a bra when we’d gone to my house for clothes, and I was glad.

“Yesss,” he hissed, sounding very dragon-like as he looked his fill.

“What’s your last name, Vedar?”

“Vos.”

I tugged down my yoga pants, watching his eyes glint as he tracked the movement.

“Do dragon bound mates share a last name? Am I now Kelsey Vos?”

“You are anything you want to be, Kelsey. But if you’re asking my preference, I think Kelsey of the Pool has a nice ring to it.”

I grinned at him, liking his humor, and he smiled back as he removed his pants. This time, it was my eyes tracking every move. And he was right. Clothes didn’t suit him. Not at all.

“Are you ready, dear one?”

“Almost.” I tugged down my underwear and kicked them to the side before sliding my hand into his.

I let him lead me to the pool so I could stare at his backside. But once we were in the water, I wasn’t content with simply looking. With only my eyes above the surface, I swam to him. His seductive smile at my predatorial approach heated my middle.

When I reached him, he pulled me up and rubbed his cheek against mine. The way our skin brushed under the water shorted any thoughts beyond,“more please!”I wrapped my legs around his waist and kissed my way from his cheek to his lips.

He groaned and gripped my hips so I could move as he kissed me back.

Panting and breathless, I broke away several minutes later.

“Thank you for finding me, Vedar. My life wouldn’t be the same without you.”

He continued to purr and rubbed his nose against mine.

“Sharing our hearts is just the beginning, my treasure. We will have a glorious life together.”

I didn’t know about glorious, but it was sure going to be interesting.

EPILOGUE

Walkingside by side through the crowded halls of the Academy, Zoe and I broke the cardinal rule. We didn’t stare at the floor but watched the people around us.

There were girls with green hair. Guys with cloven feet. Giants, incubi, banshees. I even spotted a centaur farther down the hall.

“This is crazy,” Zoe said under her breath. “I can’t believe we’re here.”

Neither could I. Two humans in a sea of creatures who would love nothing more than to literally eat us alive.

“The room you want is straight ahead,” Vedar said from behind us.

I glanced over my shoulder and smiled at him.

His golden gaze flicked to my lips before returning to the flow of students to glare at anyone who got too close.

“I feel like I’ve forgotten everything,” Zoe said as we approached the room. “What if I fail the placement test?”

“Then you will study and try again,” Vedar said without rancor.

“I hate studying.”

“Do you have something better to do with your time?” he asked.
