It took a while for me to come down from that high enough to stop shaking and clear the lust-fog from my head.
I grinned down at her. I had never even considered sex could be that great. I didn’t think I would stop smiling for a week. I looked at my beautiful mate, but she wasn’t smiling. My first thought was that I had hurt her.
“Are you okay? I didn’t mean to lose control like that,” I confessed, fearing I had been too aggressive for her.
“I’m fine,” she insisted. “You’re not. Sydney, what’s wrong?”
Sydney
Chapter 16
He didn’t claim me. I didn’t understand why. I thought everything was going so well. Why didn’t he claim me? My chest was clenching with the pain of rejection. My body still buzzed from our love making. I didn’t understand it and was fighting back an emotional breakdown.
I had always been able to control my emotions well, but they were all over the place overwhelming me.
“Syd, what’s going on in that gorgeous head of yours?”
“You didn’t claim me. Why?” I demanded.
Luke genuinely looked surprised. “I thought you weren’t sure about all this. I didn’t want to rush you,” he said, and I could tell immediately that he meant it.
“But I told you I was all in. Didn’t I?” I scrunched up my nose in frustration trying to remember.
He smiled and stroked my hair. “Just the other day you were ready to leave Collier to get the hell away from me. As far as I’m concerned you can take all the time you need to adjust. I’m not going anywhere. You are my mate. Not having a sealed bond won’t change that fact.”
“But it will make your life a whole lot harder,” I said with a frown.
He shrugged. “Maybe a little, but I can handle it.”
I crossed my arms over my chest and harrumphed. “There’s probably something I should warn you about me.”
He grinned and leaned in for a quick kiss. “What’s that?”
“I’m stubborn to my core, and when I set my mind on something, there’s no going back without some major life altering event.”
“Are you saying you’ve set your mind on me?” he teased.
“I’m saying I fully accept the fact that you, Luke Larken, Alpha of Larken Pack, are my one and only true mate. I don’t want to draw out a long mating period when we both know the inevitable ending. What’s the point?”
He laughed. “You make it sound like a life sentence.”
I smiled and nodded. “Isn’t it though? I mean you’re stuck with me now. Our bond has already started. I can feel it, can’t you?” I waited for him to nod in agreement, then I rolled to face him, as I swept my hair to one side, exposing the long column of my neck to him.
He growled and took a sharp breath. “Sydney,” he said like a warning.
I hugged, him, purposefully positioning my neck close to his face.
“Why do you resist, Luke? What are you waiting for?” I tempted him.
Without warning I felt the sharp prick of his canines against my skin. I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but it surprised me. I hadn’t been teasing him, maybe taunting him a little, but I didn’t think he was going to take the bait.
The immediate connection it established brought on this crazy sense of urgency. My canines elongated and I bit into him, marking him as mine forever. A feral sound rumbled through him. I could feel it reverberate through my entire body which lit on fire with an intense desire I had never felt before.
His strong arms wrapped around me as he rolled us to position himself above me. There was no time for foreplay. Need coursed through me as he began to move inside me. I had never felt so fully dominated before, and I loved it.
With the metallic taste of his blood in my mouth, and pure lust coursing through me, I was finding it difficult to breathe, but I wasn’t ready to break this perfect connection between us. He continued to suck my neck as he fully possessed my body until my head was spinning. The intensity of it all had me exploding into a million pieces.
I finally let go. My teeth retracted and I threw my head back and screamed out his name. He was in a frenzied state losing control to his innermost desires. His rhythm was sporadic, and his teeth rescinded, but he continued to suck on the most erroneous spot I’d ever experienced.
