He started to look up, but I shook my head and bit my lip, before closing the gap between us and kissing him. He stiffened at first, but then his arms wrapped around me and he kissed me back like I was his last breath of fresh air. I forgot all about where we were or who was watching and moaned against his lips as his tongue flicked into my mouth and started slowly exploring.
A voice cleared and Oliver froze. He didn’t pull back immediately but slowed the kiss and pulled back at his own leisure, looking deeply into my eyes before turning towards the newcomer.
“Trish? Hey, what are you doing here?” he asked.
“What am I doing here?” she screeched, starting to cause a scene. “What the hell are you doing? Do you have any idea how upset Melina would be if she saw how you’re behaving? You can’t just make out with your new slut in a public store!”
I snorted at her audacity but left it up to Oliver to handle.
“First, don’t you dare ever talk about Peyton like that. Second, Melina left me. I know you like to forget that little fact, but I do not owe that woman a damn thing, and since she was kind enough to legally dissolve all maternal rights before she left, I never have to deal with the likes of her again. So back off.”
The fact that I was his first priority made my heart soar. We continued to lay closely together on the bed.
“You can’t even afford a mattress that size,” Trish said, grasping at straws.
Oliver laughed. “You know, you’re probably right. What do you say, Peyton? We don’t really need this big of a mattress anyway. I mean. look, we don’t even take up a quarter of it,” he said as he protectively tightened his hold on me.
I relaxed and placed my head on his chest. “Yeah, I could probably give up the pillow, too. This one will do just fine.”
He turned and kissed my forehead as Trish stomped out of the store. Rob started to say something to her, but she screeched for him to shut up and stormed out.
“Uh, none of my business, but did you still want the beds and pillows? 'Cause I already rang up the beds and have your information on file to process the pillows in the morning, so you’ll get that deal I mentioned,” Rob admitted.
I laughed. “Yes, definitely,” I said, reaching for the bill and signing it. We filled out some paperwork for delivery and walked out. Oliver’s hand was protectively resting on my hip. I loved the feel of his arm around me. I could feel his wolf was still on edge, though. We stayed like that until he opened the passenger door for me.
I turned to face him. “I’m sorry about Trish.” I hugged him, enjoying the feel of my touch relaxing him and calming his wolf.
“There’s nothing for you to apologize for. She’s a bitch. That’s not your fault.”

Chapter 12
I shouldn’t have been taking comfort in Peyton, but ever since she kissed me, my wolf had been amped up, becoming far more aggressive. I had this obsessive need to be near her and touch her. It was driving me mad, because I knew I had no right to her. I refused to bring her down to my Pack level. She was like a princess of Collier and I couldn't do that to her, ever, no matter how many times my wolf barked to claim her as our mate.
My brothers were all out when the furniture was delivered the next day. Knowing it was coming, I worked my ass off so I could end work early and be there to assist if needed.
I had worried that she was buying too much, and the beds were too big, but she obviously knew exactly what she was doing because everything fit perfectly. Rob even personally oversaw the delivery of the mattresses and those damn pillows.
As the delivery guys carefully placed the king mattress in Peyton's room, it was hard not to recall the kiss we'd shared on the identical showcase one.
Once they left, Peyton sat on her bed and then laid down to test it. She sighed, and the image was so inviting that I had to leave the room. I pretended to check in on Eve, who was sleeping in the Pack 'n Play set up in my room. The furniture Peyton had picked out for me was kind of boring. Honestly, her bedroom looked more like me than this one, but it was the nicest stuff I'd ever had in my entire life and for that I loved it. Still, it surprisingly hurt a little that she had gone above and beyond to find the perfect sets for my brothers but had given little care to mine.
"Oliver, can you come here for a minute?" Peyton asked.
I walked back into the room, praying she wasn't still laying on the bed. She wasn't. She was sitting up, staring into the closet. I knew there was a door in the back of it and we both thought it went to the empty space between her room and Kenneth's. It didn't make sense logically that there was not a third bedroom on that side of the house. The measurements just didn't add up, even though she was in the largest room and had a large attached master bathroom.
"Let me guess, you want me to try the mystery door again?"
She nodded. "I just want to know what's on the other side, even if it's nothing but more closet.
I went over and pushed on it. Nothing. The door didn't appear to be locked, just swollen shut with time or something. I had so much pent up sexual frustration going on between me and Peyton that I channeled it and called to my wolf, putting everything I had behind it. I rammed my shoulder into the door over and over again until finally, it budged.
"I think it's giving," I said.
"I don't care if you break it down, I'm about to get the chainsaw or something."
I laughed. "Fine, here goes." I gave it one last push with everything I had in me and the door flew open as I went skidding into the room.
