Peyton gasped just as I heard footsteps running up the stairs. I got up and dusted off as she walked into the room to look around. It was amazing and unbelievable, but mostly, it was perfect.
"What happened? Is everything okay?" Tim called out.
"We're fine," I assured him, walking out to the hallway to meet three terrified men.
"We heard a loud crash," Kenneth said.
"From outside," Brady added.
"It's fine. Finally got that damn door open that's been driving Peyton nuts."
"It's a sex dungeon, isn't it?" Brady asked. "Please say it's a sex dungeon."
"It's not a sex dungeon," Peyton yelled back to us from inside the sealed-up nursery. "Come see for yourself."
We all walked back in and the boys were just as surprised as I was to find a fully decorated, perfect little nursery.
"Look, there is a door," Kenneth said, pointing to the completely intact door that should lead to the hallway.
Tim walked over and opened it easily. All we saw on the other side was drywall.
"Idiots," Brady said. "Why would anyone be that stupid, to drywall over the door to a room?"
"I have no idea," I admitted.
"It's so perfect, though," Peyton said wistfully. "We didn't buy any nursery furniture for her. This room looks amazing. Just needs a good cleaning."
I walked over and thoroughly checked the round crib with the little canopy draped over it. I didn't want to admit it, but it was perfect, and I could easily see my sweet baby girl sleeping in that bed.
"I'll have my sisters come by tomorrow to help. Ruby's going to freak out when she sees this place."
"I was really hoping for a sex dungeon," Brady said, and I smacked him in his chest. I didn't like him talking like that in front of Peyton. She didn't seem affected by his crudeness one bit.
She shrugged. "That would have been cool, and kind of fun, but this is exactly what this place needed."
I gulped. There was no way I was sleeping now with thoughts of Peyton in a sex dungeon enjoying herself. I bit back the groan threatening to escape.
"Wonder what else we're going to find around this place," Kenneth said excitedly.
Peyton shrugged. "Who knows, we haven't even started looking around the property yet."
"How far does the property line go?" Tim asked.
"It should be marked from where they surveyed it, but forty-nine acres came with the house," she said.
"What? You're serious? Like we could go for a real run without worrying about being seen or stumbling onto Collier land?" Brady asked.
"Yeah, I thought you knew that already," she said absentmindedly as she continued looking around the room.
"Um, no, I think you failed to mention that part," Kenneth said.
"I know I told you about the greenhouse and the gardens," she pointed out.
"Yeah, but you can see those from the house. We had no idea all the surrounding land was yours, too," Kenneth admitted.
"It butts up to Collier land on the left and county park on the right, so it feels even bigger than it is," she explained. "We'll have to go for a run and mark it with our scents sometime soon."
"You should do that, but won't Thomas get pissed if we do?" Tim asked.
