My focus goes back to Ezeikel as he speaks. “It doesn't have to come to this, Noah. All you have to do is pledge your allegiance to Fenrir and no one else has to die.”

Nyah huffs as she shakes her head while rolling her eyes.

Alpha Lightfeather takes a step forward. “We didn’t do it the last time and we won’t do it now. Everyone you see around me is willing to give up their lives to fight for what’s right. I’m only going to give you this warning once; get thefuckoff my land with your lives intact or die because you chose the wrong side.”

Ezeikel laughs, glancing back at his members who thought found amusement in Alpha Lightfeather’s words.

He looks at Alpha Lightfeather saying, “We didn’t choose the wrong side, you and your people did.” His soldiers pull out silver laced knives, machetes, and chains. “I gave you a chance and now everyone of you will have to pay the price with your lives.”

I don’t know if it had something to do with our bond, but Nyah, Skia, Ballian, and I race towards our fathers, then leap over them as if they were three feet tall. It’s some shit you would see in the movies.

Ezeikel stumbles back once he sees Ballian’s large body in front of him. “Ballian,” he murmurs. “We killed you!”

“Did you?” Ballian growls.

Ezeikel looks surprised to hear Ballian speak. He howls, withdrawing his sword. “Attack,” he commands his people. The battle has begun.

Ezeikel lets his soldiers move ahead of him. The first man to approach me screams for his life as I plunge my claws into his chest and rip out his heart. His body drops like a ton of bricks as I toss his heart to the side and move on to my next victim or should I say victims because two men circle me wielding machetes. The first one twirls his machete aroundbefore charging towards me. I duck as he wildly swings it at me, pivoting to catch him with an elbow under the chin. The second one comes to aid, but as he brings his machete down, I lock my arm around the first one’s neck and quickly turn him. The machete opens up his chest cavity as if it were slicing through butter. Noticing that he just killed his pack member, the second man screeches.

“Brother,” he cries.

With his attention on his brother, I take the machete from the dead man’s hand and utilize it to sever the hand from the second man. He brings his handless wrist to his face. Shock overtakes him as his mouth opens with a silent scream. Dropping the machete and the lifeless body, I grasp the man’s head. He wails as my silver covered claws puncture his skin. His failed attempts to punch my torso feel like butterfly kisses. It’s obvious that I took away his good hand. Dragging him close to me, I say, “You shouldn’t be worried about your brother dying because you’re about to join him.” Lifting him off his feet, I dig my claws in deeper, breaking through his skull before piercing his eyes with my thumb claws. His head caves in under the pressure I’m applying.

Chapter 52

Nyah

With my new teeth latched onto one of Fenrir’s men, I grunt, spitting out remnants of his throat. The metallic taste of his blood coats the inside of my mouth. For the average human, this would seem brutal, barbaric, or animalistic but this is our way. We are no different than soldiers going off to war who use different types of weaponry whether guns, grenades, missiles or whatever needed to protect their country. The only difference with us, is we didn’t need that shit. As shifters, it was more of an honor to kill our enemies through our brute strength.

I pivot to see Skia fighting with two men who are taking turns trying to attack her. I run to her side, then roll my body over her back and land on my feet. We stand together as the men look at each other. I had no doubt Skia could easily take them on but by it being two on one, the men probably thought they had the upper hand.

“Which one do you want?” I yelled.

Through her sharp teeth, Skia replies, “The fucker on the left that nicked me with his knife.”

Not giving them the chance to attack first, Skia and I pounce on them. The men expertly swing their silver infused knives. I grind my teeth when the first few connect with my skin. That type of pain is nothing you can get used to but can learn to tolerate and I’m learning that with each one of Fenrir’s people I’ve come across.

One of the men dived, striking me in the torso with his shoulder. I stumble back. It’s enough to slightly knock the wind out of me but not enough for me to block the knife from plunging into my chest. I grab the man’s wrist with my hands. He snarls, clutching my hands with his free hand to apply more pressure. From his strength, I can tell he is one of the older shifters. It’s now a fight for control and I’d be damned if he was going to win. With everything inside of me, the more I tried to keep the tip of the blade from reaching my skin, the more it seemed to draw nearer. The man drew his face closer to mine, letting out a pungent smelling growl as the tip finally cut through my shirt and entered my chest. Fuck, I had to do something quick! I looked over at Skia for assistance, but she was dealing with her own shit. Not willing to go out like this, I headbutted the man, then kneed him in the nuts, giving me the milliseconds I needed to regroup as he didn’t know whether to grab his head or his crotch. While he’s left in a state of confusion, I hopped on his back and locked my legs around his waist. With my claws, I quickly placed my right hand over his heart and the left to side of his face. The man wailed as I simultaneously blinded him and ripped out his heart at the same time. I leapt from his body as it went down.

I turned to go to Skia’s aid but noticed she didn’t need me. The hand the man was holding with the knife is no longer there and his other is barely hanging on. Skia circles him as he pleads for his life. They fall on deaf ears as she knocks him to the ground, her head viciously moves back and forth as she tears into his flesh.

Skia lifts her head. I watch on as her powerful jaws chew away the man’s bones as if it was a T-bone steak.

“Are you through?” I ask.

Skia holds up her paw before swallowing. “I am, now.”

I suck my teeth before canvassing the area. Braxton and Ballian were holding their own and so was Kenia and James. My heart sank when I focused on daddy and Bryant surrounded by Ezeikel and several of his men.

“No,” I shout, running off with Skia’s heavy paws behind me.

Kenia must have heard me because she calls, “Nyah, wait!”

I ignore her, not letting anything or anyone stop me from getting daddy.

The next voice I barely hear is Braxton’s. “Nyah!” Even hearing his voice, I keep going.

If I had to give my life to save my daddy’s or Bryant’s then so be it. I’ve lived a good life with my family. I found love through my destined mate. I only hope that if Braxton finds another destined mate she will give him the same type of love, he will be happy, and she would show him the same love of a mate and respect I did.
