Tech runs back into the office. Seconds later, the sirens cease.

“Three vehicles have turned onto the road, heading this way, and they are not ours,” Thing Two informs.

“Oh, my God,” Hailey whispers.

“There’s no time to get the ladies out of here. Tech, get me a vest,” Yiannis orders. Tech nods, heading to the room where the weapons and gear were located.

“Yiannis no, you can’t,” Althaia pleads, clutching his arm.

He places his hand over hers. “Althaia, love, remember the man you married. You know I can’t sit back and not protect my family.”

Tech approaches them with a bullet proof vest on and two other vests in his hands. Yiannis releases Althaia’s hand as he takes the vest and Tech hands the other to Sebastian.

“Sebastian, what are you going to do?” GeeGee asks, putting her hands on her hips.

He starts to put the vest on. “While they are up there dealing with those assholes, I’ll be down here waiting for any that makes it through that door.”

GeeGee stares at him for a moment before saying, “Damn that, you and I will be waiting on their asses.” She goes over to her purse sitting on the table by the stairs, then pulls out her huge pistol.

“Wait, how did they find out where we are?” Janae questions, eyeing Tech.

Tech shrugs. “I don’t know, maybe Santiago got a good hacker like me who was able to tap into one of my feeds.” He scratches his head. “Were there any calls made to other lines outside of the guys?”

“I called Katie to check on the club, but that was before Zar temporarily shut it down,” Nina states.

“I’ve only talked to Mike and Katie,” Janae says next.

Then it hits me. “No, no, no,” I choke as I slowly sit on the couch, shaking my head.

“What is it, Sabre?” Yiannis asks, stepping to me.

“I called my mother earlier this morning.” I can’t even look up at their faces.

“That’s how they found us. Santiago’s man must’ve used some serious high tech shit to break through the block I had set up,” Tech snaps. “Whoever he’s using is someone of my caliber because I didn’t have any detection it was tampered with.”

“Well, we don’t have time to dwell on it. They will be pulling up any second now. Althaia, you and Ismena take the ladies into the office and don’t come out until we say it’s all clear,” Yiannis orders, fastening the vest close.

Rumbling from upstairs has everyone shifting their focus towards the stairs.

“Move, move, move,” Yiannis yells.

He, Tech, Thing One and Two race to the stairs as the rest of us scramble towards the office. Janae and Nina bolt in the opposite direction, going to the weapons room.

“Where are you going?” I yell.

Nina shouts over her shoulder, “We’re not leaving GeeGee and Sebastian out here by themselves.”

Shit, I couldn’t let them be the only ones to fight with them. It was my fault Santiago found us. Without a second thought, I hurry to the room. Inside, I stare at the mass arsenal, before selecting a 9mm. Joshua had one a few years back and let me shoot it on New Year’s Eve under mask of booms by the fireworks that were going off, so I knew I could handle the weight and recoil of it.

Picking up the clip that was on the side of it, I slide it into the butt of the gun, then pull the slide back, getting the first bullet ready to be fired.

“Sabre, Janae and I have taken shooting lessons before, so we will stay out here with Sebastian and GeeGee,” Nina says as she locks and loads one of the semiautomatic weapons. “I want you to go into the office with the others. Take a few more guns with you. Althaia and Ismena know how to shoot and I’m sure Karisa does too. You all will be our last line of defense.” She looks up at me. “I know you think this is your fault but it isn’t. Shit happens in this lifestyle.”

Gunfire erupts from upstairs.

“Shit, let’s go,” Janae roars, tossing Nina a vest.

I grab guns and magazines, then flee out the room to the office.
