She smiles with caution as she speaks. “Yes, I am. We thought it would be best to not bring it up because of what you went through. Believe me when I say, although I am happy about me and Zar’s news, my heart goes out to you and Xander.”
Although I love her sincerity, there is nothing for her to feel bad about. Yes, we lost this baby, but we still have time to add to the Andino empire. “That’s wonderful news.”
The others look on as GeeGee peers down at Devyn before saying, “Devyn sweetie, why don’t you go over there and sit by Hailey.”
“But GeeGee...” she starts.
Hailey steps in. “Come sit with me, Devyn. GeeGee has everything under control.”
I pick up a saucer and napkin, then begin to load items on it.
Nina reaches for my wrist, stopping me. “Sabre, please don’t take offense that we didn’t tell you. With everything that happened in Chicago and you losing the baby...we thought that it would be better to not bring up me being pregnant with you losing your baby.”
I pat her hand. “Nina, there is nothing for any of you to be sorry for. I understand your ladies’ concerns and I’m fine. I am truly happy for you and Balthazar. As time passes, Xander and I will heal from this and as unfortunate as this situation is, the bright side is that the families have mended.
I’ve been around Xander long enough to know this divide between the families was starting to take a toll on him. With everything that has transpired, losing our baby is at the foremost of Xander’s mind and anyone that has anything to do with it will have to deal with him.”
“What about your brothers?” Althaia asks. Her eyes grow unnaturally darker.
Sighing, I reply, “From what I learned from Xander...A life for a life. My baby lost his or her life because of their bullshit, so one of them will have to personally deal with Xander.”
Chapter 8
Xander
After Zar and Yiorgosgot their shit together, we began to formulate a plan for when we go to Bermuda. Since Yiorgos and Basil were already in the States, they will be coming with us to meet up with the Cartel. With the no weapons policy, I’m wondering if Tech has some way around it.
Once we finished going over the last details of the meeting, Jeeves appeared out of thin air to take Sebastian, Yiorgos, and Basil to his house. The rest of us went to the rooms we already occupied before the ladies went back to Dallas.
I could’ve gone back to my family home, but I decided to stay at Yiannis’. Zar rode with me to Mother’s house to retrieve some extra clothes. We had five of Yiannis’ guards follow us so they could watch over the property while Mother and Karisa were in Dallas. The house has a state of the art security system, but the extra detail was added as a precaution. If I could keep my Mother’s house intact and out of this crazy shit, then I was willing to do that.
When we made it back to Yiannis’, I went straight to my room and took a shower. I needed the hot soothing water to help me decompress from today and help get my mind right for tomorrow’s meeting.
Thirty minutes later, I come out of the bathroom in my boxer briefs. Picking up my cell phone, I wanted to call and check on Sabre before I lay down.
“Hello” she answers, sounding tired.
