GeeGee goes around the table giving bacon to those who want some before taking her seat next to Devyn. She gives the young Kourakos a hug, then starts to fix her own plate.

“So, how much longer do we have to be here?” Janae asks, sipping a glass of orange juice, eyeing each man before landing her sights on Mike.

“Hopefully, not much longer,” Zar answers. “The fellows and I have some things to take care of today. Father, Grandfather, Thing One and Two will be staying with you ladies until we return. Janae, I need you to give me Trappa’s phone number.”

“Okayyyy,” she drags out.

Nina turns to Zar and asks, “Shouldn’t we be okay to go back to the house now that you all have returned? I mean, this place is nice and all, but we haven’t seen the sun since we got here. Plus, I have my first doctor’s appointment next week, a club to run, and the other ladies have their own stuff that I’m sure they need to get back too. Can’t you have Brian beef up more security at the house?”

Zar shakes his head. “No, until we put an end to this shit, you will all remain here. Right now, Santiago and his men don’t know where any of you are and I want to keep it that way. The houses are secure but I’m not going to take any chances. I promise you,wewill not miss your appointment, but for the time being, you and Janae can check in with Katie, which I’m sure you’ve already been doing, to see how Mystique is doing. Hailey sees her patients virtually, and there are laptops here she can use too.”

“What about my schoolwork, Brother?” Devyn inquires, forking up GeeGee’s fluffy scrambled eggs.

Zar smiles at her. “Don’t worry your pretty little head about that. We’ll have Tech set up one of the spare rooms for you to login virtually for your classes.”

Sebastian taps the table, getting everyone’s attention. “Enough with all of that, let’s enjoy this meal GeeGee has prepared. I want to talk and hear about other things beside what’s going on above ground. As a matter of fact, I’m placing a new order, no business talk at the table. Meals shared with family should only be filled with laughter and good conversation.”

“Amen,” GeeGee, Althaia, and Ismena say in unison.

With that being said, the conversation shifts from leaving the safe house to baby names for Zar and Nina’s baby. If it is a boy, Zar wants to give the baby his name, of course and if it’s a girl, they want to name her Allison Hermione. Sebastian’s eyes misted over from them gifting the baby’s middle name of his beloved. Leave it Alistair to think the baby girl’s name would have something to do with his.

It was nice to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ones around us. For that little bit of time, no one thought about the bullshit with Santiago. We just enjoyed one another’s company like a family was supposed to do.

Chapter 16

Xander

After our deliciousbreakfast, Zar calls the men in to one of the back rooms. Getting a reminder alert on my phone, I knew one of the topics he wants to talk about. Kissing Sabre on her cheek, I tell her I will see her shortly.

“What do you need Trappa’s number for?” Mike jumps in headfirst as we take our seats in the office.

Zar chuckles. “Calm down, Mad Dog. I want to meet up with him to find out what he knows about Santiago’s men in the area.”

We laugh because we all knew Mike isn’t too happy about Janae still keeping a close friendship with Trappa even though he knows there were never any romantic feelings between the two of them. I guess I would feel the same way with Sabre if I was in his shoes.

I ask, “Hey Tech, do we have anything on Santiago’s people here in Dallas?”
