As we get in the first two vehicles, Lethal, Blade, and Venom get in the last SUV to take them to their homes. Mike gets in the second SUV and Tech decides to stay to keep us up to date on Santiago’s movements since he now has a phone number to trace. The last time he checked, the number was still bouncing off a tower in Mexico, but that didn’t mean shit. Santiago could’ve left the phone in Mexico to throw us off.

Forty-five minutes later, I’m staring out the window at the countryside. Everything just seems so peaceful. Something that I have always longed for in my life. Of course, I would never give up being by Zar’s side but I would love to have vacation home far away from the craziness of the city.

As the driver turns onto a spooky ass dirt road, I sit up in my seat. Where in the hell did Thing One and Two bring our ladies? When we reach an old, abandoned cabin, the hairs on the back of my neck begin to rise.

“Don’t worry. They’re perfectly safe here,” Mike says as he pats my shoulder as he passes.

My eyes wander over to Zar, who has the same look on his face as me.

Alistair who is sitting in the aisle behind me states as he walks by, “Mike hasn’t let us down so far, so now is not the time to question his judgment. My seventh sense is telling me Mike’s men have been taking good care of our ladies.”

“I thought you only had six,” I respond.

He snickers. “Well, now it’s seven. Vibes. Mike and his men’s vibes are giving me a wholesome family feel. They’re our people.”

Letting out a deep breath, I acknowledge what Alistair says. Mike and his men have been with us from the beginning. Never asking why or for what. Mike knows how strong of a bond Nina and Janae have and with that, he and his men will do anything to protect it. Mike and Zar may have started off with a business relationship with Mike’s security systems for our business’ but Mike and his men have gone over and beyond to have a place in our family and for that, I will always respect them.

Outside of the SUVs, we follow Mike and Tech. As I stare at the shanty, there was no way the ladies could be holed up inside of here. The place was just too fucking small and ratty.

Mike pulls out his cell phone and starts dialing a number or at least that’s what we think until the door opens with two Asian men stand on the other side. Even with the different hairstyles, you can tell they are identical twins.

“Gents, I’d like to introduce you to Thing One and Two,” Mike introduces, then says, “Things, this is Sebastian, Yiannis, Balthazar, Alistair, Xander, Hendrix, and Frankie.”

They step forward and shake our hands before returning to their spots.

“We hope the ladies weren’t too hard on you fellows,” Zar teases, causing us to laugh.

The brothers slowly move their heads from side to side as they chuckle.

“Well, after our first initial meeting, then them seeing the outside of this place, it was a little sketchy but once they got downstairs, we became the best of friends,” Thing One replies.

“Downstairs,” I inquire, looking around their stout bodies.

Smirking, they move to the side to show us a small walkway that led to stairs.

“Are the ladies still awake?” Alistair asks.

“Some have retired for the night, but those firecrackers GeeGee, Althaia, and Ismena are still up,” Thing Two sighs, lowering his head.

Thing One laughs at his brother’s expression. “He’s only sounding like that because he’s losing to them in Poker.”

“I’m telling you, they’re cheating. Those cards are marked and every time I ask GeeGee to use a new deck, she conveniently pulls a fresh pack out of that purse of hers,” Thing Two gripes.

We laugh because one thing Zar, Alistair, and I learned in our teenage years was do not play cards with those ladies. GeeGee’s father was a professional poker player who taught her every trick there was to play and she taught them to Mother and Althaia. If you want to keep your money in your pockets, do not sit at the table with those three.

Yiannis moves in closer, then leans closer to Thing Two. “Word of advice young man, if you like holding onto your wallet, quit while you still have some money in it.” He winks at him.

“Come on, guys. Watch your steps,” Mike cautions as he and Tech move to the side, giving us access.

Thing One and Two do the same as Zar and Alistair goes first. I go next, not expecting what is waiting on us as we clear the stairs. The others follow and to our surprise, we are impressed by the layout. I guess you should never judge a shack by its cover.

“I want one of these built under my house,” Alistair admires as we take in our surroundings.

“Yiannis, boys,” Althaia gushes when they turn to see us standing there. She, Mother, and GeeGee get up from the table, rushing over to us. They hug us while checking to see if we have any injuries.

“They’re fine,” Yiannis assures, holding his wife.

Mother looks up into my eyes. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
