Chapter 12
Sabre
Idon’t know what thehell happened in Chicago within the last twenty fours, but two hours after Nina talked to Zar, two identical muscular Asian men showed up at her front door saying they were taking us to a safe house.
“Who the hell are you?” GeeGee explodes, staring the men down with a large ass gun behind her back.
The one on the left with the buzzed haircut and tattoos answers first, “Ma’am, we’re a part of Mad Dog’s team. We have been instructed to get you ladies to our safe house.”
“I don’t know no damn Mad Dog except the liquor,” GeeGee grits between her teeth, then swiftly brings the gun from around her back, aiming it at the guy.
The men glance at each other, then back at GeeGee with huge smiles on their faces.
Janae pushes through us to get to GeeGee. She sees the men, then turns to GeeGee, “They’re fine GeeGee. This is Thing One and Two. They work with Mike, who they call Mad Dog. If they’re here then things have gotten bad.”
GeeGee slowly lowers the gun, still eyeing them suspiciously. “Thing One and Two, I don’t give a damn. They can’t just show up at peoples doorsteps saying come go with us. Boy, I don’t know you. Shit, like that will get your ass shot quick around here.”
Thing Two with his long black hair pulled back into a Samurai bun says, “Ma’am, I understand your concern, but as you can see, we’ve passed through the security gate and with Balthazar’s head of security, Brian. Our mission is to get you ladies to the safe house.”
“And why do you have to do that?” Althaia questions out of nowhere, also with a pistol in her hand.
The men side eye each other before Thing One replies, “That’s classified information, ma’am. Please, will you ladies grab what you can so we can take you to the safe house.”
GeeGee grabs my arm when I turn to do as he says.
“Looky here, mirror, mirror on the wall, I don’t know who you are. Let me call Balthazar to confirm your story.” GeeGee whips out her phone, then calls Zar.
“Balthazar, there are two Asian men here talking about taking us to some damn safe house. Did you authorize this, because if you didn’t, I hope they have identical burial plots?”
Her face softens as she listens to what Zar says.
“I see, well the next time you need to give us a heads up, these boys almost met Budda today.”
Balthazar says something else that cracks her up.
“Alright, boy. Let me get off this phone so we can get out of here.”
She ends the call, then turns to Thing One and Two. “My apologies, young men.”
They bow their heads.
GeeGee then tells us, “Go pack a bag, we have to leave. I’ll explain everything on the way.”
We waste no time hurrying to our rooms. I grab the travel bag Karisa got me and race around the room throwing items in it. All kinds of shit run through my mind as to what led to this. I want to call Xander to ask what happened, but I’ll wait until we get to wherever Thing One and Two were taking us.
When I’m finished, I meet back up with the ladies by the front door.
Thing Two takes Althaia, GeeGee, and Ismena’s bags then leaves out the front door, while Thing One addresses us, “I’m sorry for the inconvenience ladies, but I assure you, we will get you to your location safely. The ride will take a little over an hour, but we brought our van so you’ll be comfortable. Does anyone need to use the facilities before we leave?”
When we reply no, he walks over to the door, then opens it wider. One by one we exit the house. Thing Two stands beside a black Mercedes Benz van with limo tinted windows and the side door slid open.
“Don’t worry, the van is bulletproof all the way around including the windows and tires,” Thing One states, walking behind us.
