After the third showing, I knew everything I needed to know about her. Sabre was educated, came from a middle class family with both parents still living and she had two older brothers, Joshua and Greg, who were deep into the dope game. Being close with her parents and also the only one out of the three of them who actually did something productive with her life, Sabre felt that she needed to make sure her parents, George and Sybrina were taken care of and out of her brothers bullshit. Personally, I thought that was a lot on her but I understood because I did the same with Mother and Karisa. From the information she gave about her brothers, I knew the three of us would never get along.

“You know what, can we go back and take a look at the first condo again,” I asked as we were leaving the last one.

I saw a brief moment of irritation in her eyes as I held the door open for her. She quickly replaced it with a beautiful smile.

“Of course. Sometimes it’s better to go back to the first one to view again, then make your decision.”

As she walked past me, I placed my hand on her lower back, then escorted her to my car. Her steps seemed to pick up, but I matched her pace. There was no way I was going to remove my hand from her. I was hesitant when we reached my vehicle, but I slowly took it away to open the car door. Sabre held a serious expression as she got inside. I laughed to myself, Ms. Tompkins didn’t know it but after that day, I was going to make it my point to wear her down to become mine.

I bought the first condo and to keep Sabre close, I convinced her to come with me furniture shopping, feigning I didn’t know what to pick out. By the end of the day, Sabre had selected every piece of furniture that was to go into my condo. I loved her style of décor. The colors were a mix of tan, brown, and cream, giving the place a warm feeling. What she picked out, didn’t scream bachelor pad, but home.

Sabre thought she was done with me after that, but one day I hacked into her computer and found out her schedule. She didn’t have any appointments on that particular day, so I decided to surprise her at her office with lunch.

I ordered gourmet sandwiches, pasta, fruit, salad, and drinks. The food arrived before I did, so imagine my surprise when I showed up and one of her male colleagues was sitting at her desk eating one of the sandwiches.

“Mr. Andino, this is a surprise,” Sabre said, wiping her mouth with the cotton cloth that came with the food.

“I’m sure it is,” I replied as I walked over to the guy and took the sandwich out of his hand mid bite.

“What the hell?,” the guy griped.

Throwing the sandwich in the trash can on the side of Sabre’s desk, I turned to him and said, “This is not for you. Go buy something out of the vending machine downstairs.”

The prick stared at me with a heated glare. On the inside, I hoped he would to come out of his seat but I guess the way I was glaring at him, he thought otherwise.

“Hold on Mr. Andino, you can’t come in my office and be disrespectful to my co-worker,” Sabre rushed out.

My eyes moved to her. “Yes I can if I’m the one who brought this food.”

Her mouth formed an ‘O’ before saying, “But still, you are being very rude, so you can take your food and be on your way.”

I laughed. “I’m not going anywhere, I came here to enjoy lunch with you, so he can leave.”

“I’m not going...” the asshole started, but I gave him a death glare, ceasing the next words that were about to come out of his mouth.

“Norman, will you give me a minute to speak with Mr. Andino,” Sabre requested.

“Are you sure, Sabre?,” Norman queried.

“You heard her,” I spoke.

Norman didn’t even look my way as he continued to focus on Sabre.

“Yes, I’m sure. This won’t take long at all,” Sabre told him, but what she failed to realize...it would.

Norman finally got his pansy ass up and left the office. I smirked in defeat as I took his seat and began to rummage through the bag for a sandwich.

Sabre watched my every move as she stood stating, “Thank you for the food but you have to go. You can’t come into my office and act the way you did. You have your condo, so our business is done. Please remove yourself from these premises.”

I smiled pulling an Italian hero from the bag, then began removing the wrapping around it. “Sabre, sit down and finish your lunch. It was my mistake to try to surprise you and it won’t happen again. Matter of fact, why were you eating food that you didn’t know who sent it? What if it was poisoned?”

Sabre rolled her eyes. “First of all, my company orders from that restaurant all the time, so why would I second guess it? Second, who would want to poison me? I don’t have any enemies, but you are making me second guess that.”

I pinned her with my eyes, stating, “Let me stop you right there. I am not your enemy. I am the man who you will someday marry, have beautiful babies with, grow old with, then live with for eternity in the afterlife. You can drop that tough girl act because it’s not going to work on me. Now, enjoy this delicious lunch your man has selected for you.”

Sabre gasped. “My man?”

I took a bite of my sandwich, relishing the flavors as I chewed, then swallowed before replying, “Yes, your man.”
