Chapter 16

Alistair

After making sure Devynwas okay in my car, I leaned on the side of it, waiting for Hailey and GeeGee to come out. I wasn’t worried about Milah or that douche doing anything. I know GeeGee never leaves home without her 357 Magnum stuffed in her purse. Yes, we’re at the school, but that wouldn’t stop her from pulling it out. From now on, I’m going to make sure Hailey has something on her.

Hailey comes out of the doors first, followed by GeeGee, who has her back to me with her hand in her purse. I chuckle. GeeGee didn’t play. Most people see her as the soft spoken caregiver but get her riled up and you’ll see the real GeeGee.

“Baby, are you okay,” I ask Hailey, as she approaches me and I hug her.

“I’m fine. I just want to get Devyn home and far away from our clout seeking momma,” she replies.

I watch as GeeGee clears the last step. Milah and the guy exit next. GeeGee never turns her back on them until she reaches us.

“Alistair, are you taking the long way home in case they follow us,” she questions as she stares them down with her hand still in her purse.

“Nope. They can’t get to our house without going through security. I’ll get with Zar to add some of our men at the front and back gate.”

“Good,” GeeGee says. “Hailey, give me your keys. After that shit with your momma, I’m going to have to drive with my pistol on my lap.”

Hailey digs into the outer pouch of her purse, then pulls out her keys, giving them to GeeGee.

“I’m sure they will follow us as far as they can, and I haven’t had time to call Zar to let him know what’s going one,” I inform.

GeeGee sucks her teeth. “Well, once he finds out this mess, you’re going to get an earful, and let’s not mention what Yiannis and Sebastian are going to say when word passes to them.”

Shit, three angry Kourakos breathing down my neck! And let’s not mention Mother. Fuck it, I’m used to it. I know that deep in the trenches of their minds, they wonder if I’m really mentally unstable, but when it comes to Hailey and Devyn, you’re damn right I am.

“Just get Hailey in her car and we’ll follow you,” I tell her.

“Come on, sweet child. No other sister could ask for a better one than you,” GeeGee tells Hailey.

Before she lets me go, Hailey says, “I don’t care what you have to do, but they can never get Devyn back. Hell, you’ve already maimed Andre, so a bullet to the head should take care of him. When it comes to our incubator, neither one of us needs her. So, I’ll let you feel free on how you want to deal with her.”

Normally the wickedness in her voice would have me grinning, but this time it didn’t. There was nothing funny about what she said. Her mother and Andre had scarred her so bad, she didn’t give a fuck if they lived or died. To keep Devyn out of their clutches, she was willing to see them handled accordingly.

“Η καρδι? μου (my heart), get in the car with GeeGee. We’ll be right behind you,” I tell her before I plant a kiss on her cheek.

“Come on, Hailey. Those two make me want to do things on a school ground that will make me end up in jail, for the rest of my short life,” GeeGee says before dragging her from my protective arms.

“GeeGee, just take the normal route home. I’m not sure if they have people watching us or not, but they can’t get through the gate at the houses.” I express.

She winks, then goes to the driver’s side of Hailey’s car, and gets in.

“What if they try something,” Hailey worries, staring up at me.

“Η καρδι? μου (my heart), there is only two of them, there’s not much they can do. If it will make you feel better, I will have Devyn ride with the two of you while I follow.”

“No, I’ll feel much better if Devyn is with you.”

“Alright then, go ahead and get in with GeeGee, and we’ll meet up at the house.”

Hailey closes her eyes as she slowly nods her head up and down. “Okay, but Alistair, if they put you and Devyn in harm’s way, you make sure you end them both.”

“Oh, that’s without a doubt. From day one, you and Devyn’s safety has always been top priority to me, and it hasn’t changed. Mother or not, Milah will die if she tries to fuck with our family.”

She rubs my beard, then pinches my chin, bringing my lips to her. After a quick peck, she smiles at me. She knew if anyone could keep the vultures away from Devyn, it would be me.

Hailey glances over at her momma. “They’re going to follow us.”
