“Now that we've gotten that settled, Mike, will Blade and Venom be joining us tonight,” I queried since they didn’t come with them to Zar’s.
Mike shook his head sideways. “No, they’re on an assignment for the security company. It’s a big job, so they won’t be done in time.”
I noticed the eye exchange between Tech and Lethal. What kind of security system job would have them working that late into the night, I thought to myself? Oh well, we had the three of them and that was better than nothing.
While we sat around mapping out the area on Tech’s laptop, the ladies went into the kitchen to help GeeGee and Devyn. We decided the best way to keep attention off of us was to come from three different directions. Zar, Xander, and I would arrive in Beast, Frankie and Hendrix in Hendrix’s SUV, and Mike, Tech, and Lethal in Mike’s truck. Me, Zar, and Xander will be entering the front of the building, with the others coming through the back. If this Trappa guy holds up his end, Andre won’t have a chance to run.
“Are you boys finished in here,” GeeGee asks, as she and the girls come back, holding trays of sandwiches, chips, and sweet tea.
“We’re done,” Zar replies, as his phone starts to ring. “Shit,” he murmurs, hitting the speaker icon. “Hello, Father.”
“Hello, Balthazar. You missed our two-thirty video conference call with the other Bosses, and I want to know what could be more important than business,” he calmly states.
Zar glances over at me, then replies, “We had a situation today that needed to be taken care of.”
“Oh, what type of situation,” Father quizzes.
“Hailey and Devyn’s mother showed up at Devyn’s school,” Zar informs.
“What,” Father roars. I hear Mother in the background asking what was wrong. “The girls’ mother came for Devyn.” Mother fusses telling Father to put his phone on speaker as well.
“Balthazar, you better tell us everything that happened! I can’t believe the nerve of that woman,” she fumes.
Zar takes a deep breath, and retells them the incident at the school, as well as what happened here. When he finishes, Mother asks, “Where’s GeeGee?”
“I’m right here, Althaia,” GeeGee yells.
“GeeGee, why didn’t you slap the shit out of her?”
I chuckle. It’s funny to hear Mother curse. The only time you did hear it, is when she’s beyond pissed.
“Believe me Althaia, slapping her was the furthest thing from my mind. I wanted to shoot her ass but had to think otherwise since we were in the principal’s office. But I was ready for her ass to jump bad! You know I don’t play about my kids,” GeeGee voices in an irritated tone.
“What of the father, son,” Father asks as mother goes off, speaking in Greek.
“How dare she think she can come take our Princess. They better take care of this, Yiannis or GeeGee and I will! (Π?ς τολμ? να πιστε?ει ?τι μπορε? να ?ρθει να π?ρει την πριγκ?πισσ? μας;! Καλ?τερα να το φροντ?σω αυτ?, Γι?ννη ? GeeGee και θα το κ?νω!)”
Zar overlooks her tirade, stating, “He’s here too, but we’re going to deal with him tonight.”
“Very well. I’ll be calling your Grandfather to let him know what has transpired. Once the jet is ready, we’ll be on our way there. I suggest you boys have this situation handled before we get there,” Father specifies before the line goes dead.
Zar stares down all of us men, then declares, “There can be no fuck ups. Alistair will take the lead tonight, and we will back him.” He then pins his sights on me. “This is a one-time shot. You better bring every crazy asshole in that head of yours out to play.”
“I only need one shot,” I remark, smiling at him. Oh, the things I had planned in my head for Andre.
Around seven-thirty, I went back to my house to change into our traditional black cargo, t-shirt and boots. I didn’t even bother putting on my vest, as I slid my two gun shoulder holsters on. Picking up my knives, I smirked as I put them in the sheaths on my sides. I was going to use those babies tonight. Once I was finished, I put on my black zip up jacket to hide my weapons from Devyn, then went back to Zar’s. It was almost time for us to head to the city.
As I entered the house, Devyn ran over to me.
“Αδερφ?ς (Brother), I don’t want to go back with them. Please make sure I won’t ever have to go back with them. I love the family I have now, and I would die if I had to leave you all.”
The tears in her eyes eat at my heart. As far as I’m concerned, Andre and Milah Varner will soon be faded memories for her.
“Μικρ? αδελφ? (little sister), I promise, as long as you have me and Zar around, no one will ever make you go back with them. You belong with us. You’re a Kourakos now, and always will be, okay?”
She nods her head before hugging me. Hailey walks over to us with tears streaming down her face. She quickly wipes them away, then tells Devyn, “Devyn, GeeGee said come help her clean the kitchen.”
“Okay,” she says before letting me go. “I love you, Αδερφ?ς (Brother).”
