GeeGee sucks her teeth. “Hailey, you see how thick this girl's hair is. Once I’m on a roll, I’m not finishing until I’m through. She will be fine. If I need some extra rubber bands, I’ll let you know.”

Hailey still looks like she wants to object, but GeeGee comforts her by saying, “This baby will be alright, Hailey. I know you still have your guard up, but trust and believe, she is among family who will do nothing but love and protect her. Breathe baby, just breathe. Both of you are safe.”

I wrap my arm around her to reassure her. “That little girl not only has you to look after her, but four brothers, two other sisters, and grandparents, who will annihilate anyone who tries to destroy her happiness. And we’re not even going to talk about what GeeGee will do. You wanted her to be in a stable environment, well there’s no better place than with us. Trust me, you have nothing to worry about.”

Everyone gives Hailey a supportive look as she glances around the room. “You’re right. Devyn, you know where your pajamas are. Make sure you brush your teeth before you go to bed. Oh, don’t forget your bonnet.”

“Okay,” Devyn says before coming over to hug Hailey first, then me.

“Goodnight, little sister,” I tell her.

“Goodnight, brother. I’ll see you in the morning,” she returns as she lets me go, leaving the room with GeeGee.

I thought I would wait and talk to GeeGee first but, after the asshole incident, it was clear I am going to need her around to steer me in the right direction with Devyn.

“Balthazar,” I call.

“What’s up,” he asks.

“Would you object to GeeGee coming to stay with us for a month or two to help us get settled in? She would be a great asset to Hailey, and I could surely use her help in teaching me what not to do or say around Devyn.”

He chuckles. “I have no objections, Alistair. Plus, after the Κωλοτρυπιδα statement, she’ll probably insist.”

Everyone laughs, including Hailey and me. I had to rethink my ways about things. I couldn’t be a positive role model to Devyn, if I was teaching her the wrong things. Sure, Zar taught me every fucking curse word in the book, but did I want Devyn to have a mouth of a sailor, hell no. Yeah, there are some things, very small things, I’m going to have to change when I’m with her. I want her to be able to handle her own against any bully who tries to push her around. I don’t play that shit. Even though I'm sure Hailey can help me with everything, GeeGee will be the one that will break me from giving into Devyn’s cute pouty face.

“I’m glad to hear that. They will be returning with us tomorrow. Since Andre is gone and Trent is too much of a pussy to show his face, I want my family home with me,” I tell him, cocking my eyebrow. I hope he won’t fight me on this.

Zar studies me, then looks over to Father who nods. “All of the ladies will be coming back with us tomorrow. Nina is anxious to see how things are going with the rebuilding of Mystique, and I’m sure Janae wants to go back to help her with that. I want to make it clear, they will have a security detail on them. Just because Andre left the state and Trent is hiding in a hole somewhere, doesn’t mean the threat of them is over.”

Nina, who was laying on his shoulder, sits up. “I don’t need a security detail Balthazar, and neither does Janae. As long as I have my 9mm, I wish Trent’s ass would pop up like a Jack in the Box.”

I laugh at the image of Trent’s big head ass popping out of a box like the clown he is.

“This is not up for debate. You will have a detail and that’s final,” Zar states, giving her a stern look.

“But Zar,” Nina sings as she starts to play with his collar, batting her lashes at him.

Zar gives her a wicked smile, and says, “I’m not repeating myself.”

Nina narrows her eyes at him. “We’ll see about that. Excuse me, everyone. I’m feeling tired all of a sudden. I think I’m going to turn in for the night. See you guys in the morning.”

Zar grabs her hand as she stands. “Do you need some help?”

She stares at their hands, then back at him. Zar has mischief in his eyes, but Sis isn’t going for it. “No, I’m good. I have a headache all of a sudden too.” She smirks at him as she pulls her hand from his, then walks away.

Zar clears his throat, then swallows hard. He turns to us, and says, “I’m going to see if she needs some aspirin. See you all in the morning.”

“Goodnight, dear,” Mother states, grinning at him when he goes to give her a kiss on the cheek. Balthazar blushes. Hell, we all knew Nina wasn’t tired, nor did she have a headache. By the time Zar was through with her tonight, Nina will proudly agree to the security detail.
