“And she made the deal with the devil, Trent,” Xander sighs, frowning.
Hearing that assholes name, has me finishing off my drink, then walking over to the decanter to refill my glass.
“I’m done waiting for his ass to show his face, that motherfucker has to go! If he can get to Nina’s mother, there’s no telling who he’ll use the next time.” I turn to Mike. “You might want to put some of your men on Janae.”
Mike laughs. “I’m not worried about Janae. When she’s not over here, I keep her close to me. I’ve been taking her on jobs with me. She bitches about it, but understands I’m doing this until that weasel is out of the picture.”
I stroll behind my desk, then sit. “Xander, is everything set up?”
He smirks, replying, “It sure is. Trent’s not going to know what hit him. I’ve spent the last two days blowing the back out of Ginger, the red head receptionist that works at Trent’s BDSM club and let me tell you, the carpet does match the drapes. It’s amazing how good dick and the right liquor can have a person spilling their guts.” He wiggles his eyebrows. I wave my hand for him to continue. “Yeah, so anyway, Ginger told me that some very important people in the community are into the rough stuff and I mean more than just a little slap and tickle. Judges, police chiefs, politicians, you name it. That’s why it’s so hard to gain membership. The assholes don’t want the public to find out about their guilty pleasures. Imagine what that will do their images?”
Interesting. That little gem may come in handy. “Did she say when they like to frequent the club?”
“Today’s our lucky day because tonight is VIP night. Only members with a Platinum status are allowed in tonight. Ginger said that Trent is always there on VIP night, rubbing elbows with the high profile people. Hendrix and Frankie have been staking it out the last two nights and said there are usually two bouncers at the front door, both strapped with a gun. Cameras are posted in the front and the back of the building. The lighting in the front of the building isn’t very bright, so members aren’t easily recognized. From the outside it looks like any other building on the street except it has no markings,” Xander informs, then tilts his glass at me.
So, this is it. This will be the night I put an end to Trent Ganino and put some bigwigs in my pocket. It’s going to be a win-win for me.
“We’re going in tonight. Alistair call Hendrix and Frankie and tell them to get our men ready, then I want you and Xander to go home and get ready. No suits tonight, it’s all black tactical gear with masks. Trent will probably know it’s us but the rest won’t and I want to keep it that way. Have the men meet us at The Elite at eleven o’clock on the dot. We’re about to show these motherfuckers why we’re at the top of the food chain,” I declare, raising my glass to them. They return the gesture, before we take a drink, sealing the pact.
“Zar, I’m going to see if I can tap into the security system at the club. If so, I’ll disable it before you guys go in,” Mike proposes, sitting his empty glass on a coaster on the table.
“Thanks, Mike. That way we can really catch their asses with their pants down.” We laugh. “Alright, let’s get ready. It’s...” I look at my watch. “It’s almost two-thirty now, Alistair and Xander be back here at ten. We’re taking the Beast tonight,” I tell them.
The Beast is my matte black Humvee that I keep in the garage behind the house along with my heavy artillery and other gear. I bought it at an auction, then had it overhauled with tinted bullet proof windows and hidden compartments for our guns and ammo. Even the tires were non-deflatable.
I point to Mike. “Do you have what you need, or do you need to go home?”
“I’ll need to go to my office to handle something like that,” he replies.
“Okay, well since your office is in the city, Janae can stay here with Nina and GeeGee. Brian and the other guards will make sure they’re safe while we’re gone.”
Alistair and Xander left first. Mike called for Janae to come downstairs. After telling her what he was going to do, she damn near pushed him out the door, saying he better break Trent’s security code or he was going to have to deal with her when he came back. I was in the kitchen, laughing at her crazy ass.
Janae came in the kitchen and sat at the table as I poured up some orange juice.
“Do you want some,” I offer, holding up the container.
“No, thank you,” she replies. I place the orange juice back in the refrigerator, then face her. “I wanted to talk to you privately about Nina.”
“Okay,” I say, walking over to the table, then sitting down across from her.
“This shit with Trent and her momma is starting to take a toll on her. Nina’s strong, probably one of the strongest women I know but even the strongest person can be pushed to a breaking point. Nina is like a sister to me and she never really told me about you guys past, and I didn’t see any reason for me to ask until recently. If you love her like you say you do, then you better do everything in your power to protect her. I never want to see my friend in the state she was in earlier. You either kill that son of a bitch tonight or I’ll get some of the brothers from Oak Cliff to do it. I like you Balthazar. You were a cool boss back in the day, but this is no longer an employee-employer relationship between us. Like I said Nina is like a sister to me, so I look at you as a brother now. Protect my sister Zar or Trent won’t be the only one ducking bullets.”
I fight to keep a straight face. Janae is shooting daggers at me with her little feisty self. I know she means every word she said. Hell, when there used to be trouble at the club, she was right there with the bouncers, breaking shit up. The girl was fearless.
“Janae you have my word, nothing will happen to Nina. If I ever fall short in doing my job as her man, I will stand still while you shoot me,” I state with a smile.
Janae regards me before grinning at me. “Deal, now go check on your woman. She was laying down, talking to GeeGee when I came downstairs.”
“Thanks,” I tell her before standing, then taking the glass over to the sink.
Leaving Janae in the kitchen, I went to the stairs, taking them two at a time before I was at the top. Heading down the hallway to the master bedroom, I smile when I hear Nina and GeeGee’s laughter.
I knock lightly, open the door, then step in. Nina is curled up on the bed with her head propped in her hand, while GeeGee sits on the edge. They smile when they see me.
“What’s all the laughter about,” I ask, making a beeline over to Nina. Bending down, I kiss her soft lips.
GeeGee swats my arm when I take too long letting her lips go. I grunt, pulling away as Nina giggles.
