Fifteen minutes before we pulled up to the high-rise building where Ganino Enterprises was located, we checked our weapons, making sure the silencers were screwed on tight. While Alistair, Xander, and I rode in Xander’s SUV, Hendrix and Frankie followed in Hendrix’s. I felt I needed to have a talk with Alistair before we arrived.
“Alistair,” I called from the front passenger seat.
“Yeah,” he replied.
“I don’t want you shooting anyone unless, they’re trying to shoot you. We’re not going in there guns a blazing. I have other plans for Trent. I’m just going to have a little chat with him, got it?”
When he doesn’t answer, I look over the seat at him. Alistair has a cloth, vigorously wiping his gun. “I’m not going to repeat myself,” I warned him.
His hand stopped at the butt of the gun as he looked up at me with a crooked smile. “Got it,” he said, then went back to cleaning the gun. Little brothers, I thought to myself as turned back around.
We found two parking places on the main level in the parking garage. Once everyone was out, we pressed the button to activate the discs, then I told them to not put on the sunglasses until we were inside and past security check-in. I didn’t want any attention drawn on us. Alistair, Xander, and I would go in first with Hendrix and Frankie coming in two minutes later. We would meet at the elevator before going up to the ninth floor where Trent’s office is located.
Five minutes later Alistair, Xander, and I were strolling towards the elevator. That damn Mike and his toys. The security at the check point, waved us through the metal detector one by one. As we passed through, no beeping alarms or flashing lights went off. I need to find out what else Mike had up his sleeve.
I stopped at the newsstand, purchasing a today’s paper, to give Hendrix and Frankie enough time to catch up to us. When I saw them clear the check point, we continued to the elevator. Alistair pushed the up button, then we waited.
Seconds later, we stepped inside when the door slid open.
“I can’t believe it actually worked,” Alistair says, letting out low laugh.
“Ditto,” Xander agrees.
“We’ll discuss that later,” I state, watching the numbers on the elevator panel light up as we pass the floors. “When the doors open, Hendrix and Frankie I want you two to sit on the secretary while the three of us go inside. No one is to come into that office.”
They nod, as the bell goes off, letting us know we’re at our destination. “Show time.”
I step out first, going to the double doors that read Ganino Enterprises then pause while Frankie grabs the handle, then opens it.
A bubbly brunette greets us as we enter. “Welcome to Ganino Enterprises! Do you have an appointment with Mr. Ganino?”
“No, he’s not expecting me, but I’m sure he’ll be happy to see me. We’re old friends,” I reply, giving her a dazzling smile as Hendrix and Frankie come to my sides, placing their guns on the counter. “Please, don’t make any noises or sudden movements. I would hate for them to kill such a pretty lady.” She nods her head up and down as she trembles with fear. “Thank you...” I look at the name plate on her desk. “Kim, thank you Kim. Now, is there anyone in the office with Mr. Ganino?”
“Jus...Just two of his associates,” she fearfully answers.
“Aww, good. This won’t take long, I promise,” I continue to smile, walking around the counter, then stopping at her desk. “And Kim, please remember what I told you.” The smile fades to a hard look that has her quickly looking away. I hated to scare the poor lady, but it comes with the job.
Alistair and Xander wait for me at the door with their glasses on, and pistols in their hands. I don the glasses then give Xander a nod. He grabs the knob, opens the door, then he and Alistair enter pointing their pistols at an unsuspecting Trent and the two other men.
“What the hell,” Trent yells, going for the bottom drawer of the desk where there’s a gun stashed.
“I wouldn’t do that if I was you,” I warn, coming to a stop between my brother and best friend.
A dull whizzing sound goes off. The guy sitting in the chair to the left of Trent slumps in his chair with a bullet to the heart. I side eye Alistair who shrugs his shoulders then whispers, “He was reaching for something.” He now trains his gun on Trent.
“You have some balls showing up at my place of business,” Trent roars with his voice laced with anger.
“No motherfucker, you have some balls to start a war with me. I got your fucking calling card, but unlike you, I don’t send flunkies to do my dirty work! I got the balls to do the shit myself!” I grab my junk.
Trent’s cocky ass laughs, sitting back in his chair. “So, what you’re here to kill me?”
“Oh no Trent, killing you right now would be no fun. I’m here to let you know, there will be no waving of the white flag this time. You want to play with the big dogs, then call me Cujo, motherfucker,” I declare with my voice growing deep.
Trent’s gives a challenging expression before growling, “I don’t know how the fuck you got up here, but I suggest you leave while you still have your lives.”
“Don’t worry we’ll be on our way and always with our lives. I’ll be seeing you around, Trent,” I promise with a smirk, getting ready to walk away.
“Tell Nina I miss having my dick buried in that sweet pussy of hers,” Trent jeers, letting out a taunting laugh.
