But I didn’t get a chance to dwell on it for too long, because when I approached my cabin, I found Theo sitting on my front step. I sucked in a sharp breath when his dark eyes met mine, so full of longing and lust that my knees shook.
“Theo?’ I called out.
“I believe we have a score to settle.”
From the momentthe cabin door closed behind us, a heaviness filled the room. A heady mix of lust and need tried to take me out at the knees, my body willing me to throw myself into Theo’s arms. I needed him, every part of my body practically singing with it. But I also needed answers, ones that could potentially change the way he looked at me. And while I hated the idea of things shifting between us, I couldn’t keep living in this bubble forever.
Theo leaned in to kiss me, but I placed my hand on hischest to stop him. His eyes widened in surprise. “Calla, everything okay?”
“I don’t know.” I reached down to take his hand. “I’ve just been thinking, and I…” I sighed and looked up at the ceiling. “How do you feel about me?”
“What?” Theo asked.
“I need to know how you feel about me. You say you choose me, that you’re in this, but I need to know what that means. Is it for now? Is it until someone finds out about us? Or is this thing between us real?” I inhaled slowly, hating the shakiness in my throat. “Because I’m falling for you, Theo. And it scares the hell out of me–”
Theo stopped my thoughts with his thumb on my lip. He tilted my head down, forcing me to meet his eyes. “How could you think I’d settle for anything less than all of you, Calla? Being with you is the most real thing in my life.” He smiled slowly at me before dropping his forehead to mine. “You’re not the only one scared, you know. I’m terrified of how much I care about you, how deeply you’ve carved yourself into my heart already. Because it only started working again when you showed up, Calla. I’m pretty sure if I lose you, the damn thing will never work again.”
“You mean that?” I looked up at him, tears clinging to my lashes.
“Every word, beautiful.” Theo gripped the back of my neck, bringing my lips to his. “I will never be perfect. I work too much, take on too much stress, and lord knows I’m not great about keeping my anger in check. Those things may never completely go away, but I promise to try every day. For you, Calla.” He pulled back to look me in the eyes. “Ever since you first walked into my office, I’ve been yours, beautiful. Please tell me you’re mine.”
“I’m yours,” I whispered, crushing my mouth to his.Theo wasted no time, lifting me so my legs could curl around his waist. He pressed me up against the door, his erection growing against my stomach. It was almost comical how much I wanted this man, how much I needed his touch after a few weeks of space. It was like he was the air I needed to breathe, only able to exhale now that I was in his arms.
Theo’s lips drifted down my neck, slowly languishing my collarbone and chest with his mouth. As soon as he reached the neck of my dress, I heard a loud rip, the fabric now pooling off me. I smacked him in the shoulder. “I liked that dress.”
“I’ll buy you a new one,” Theo smirked against my skin. “And when it gets in my way, I’ll destroy that one too.”
“Seems like an endless cycle.”
“Yes, it does,” he chuckled. “In fact, when we’re alone, you probably shouldn’t wear anything at all—at least nothing you’re fond of.”
I chuckled as he moved us to the bed, laying me out in front of him. As I pulled off the remnants of my dress, Theo palmed himself through his trousers, staring at me like I was his prey. He sighed, taking a step forward to massage my thighs. “I have to admit, beautiful, I’m losing control here. I want to take you nice and slow, but I don’t know if I can hold back tonight.”
“Don’t,” I whispered, sitting up with my elbows to meet his eyes. “Fuck me, Theo. Mark me, own me. Show me I’m yours.”
TWENTY-EIGHT
“Show me I’m yours.”
The words had barely left Calla’s lips, and I was on her, needing to make her feel as desperate as me. Fuck this distance nonsense. I wanted her in my bed every night, to wake her up with my tongue between her legs every morning. Her taste was quickly becoming an addiction I never wanted to break.
With her dress torn in half at my feet, all that remained on her lithe body was a set of matching maroon lace bra and panties. I toyed with the lace around the crest of her breast, brushing my finger over her peaked nipple. “Did you wear these just for me, Calla?”
“Yes,” she breathed, arching her back to deepen my touch.
“Not yet, beautiful.” I dragged my finger in light circles across her skin. “I promised that I’d show you you’re mine, and I will. But right now, I need you writhing and desperate for me.”
“What?” Calla squeaked, shifting to try and sit up.
My hand splayed against her stomach and stopped her, anchoring her in place. The other grabbed her wrists, placing them above her head. “Keep them there,” I demanded, leaning down to nip her lower lip. “If anything is too much, tell me to stop. Everything ends the moment you say so.”
“I understand,sir,” Calla added with a smirk.
Fuck, that word would be my undoing. My lips found hers immediately, but there was nothing delicate about this kiss. It was primal, all need and pure adoration at this woman’s trust in me. But before I could lose my entire mind, I lifted back, removing my belt and bringing it back to Calla’s wrists. I twisted it around her delicate skin, checking that it wasn’t cutting off circulation before wrapping the other end around the footboard of the bed. “Too tight?”
Calla shook her head, pure lust clouding her own eyes. “No, it’s good.”
She must have thought I was about to resume my touch, but instead, I tugged off my tie, running it through my fingers as I stared down at the girl at my mercy. “Now, beautiful, do you remember the first time I had you like this?” She stared at me, confusion furrowing her brow. I chuckled, continuing as I moved back over her, “You told me to beg for a taste. And I did. I would beg a thousand times if it meant you’d come on my tongue. But tonight, the only one begging will be you.”
