“Holy shit, Cole,” she whispered against my lips.

“You okay?” I asked, brushing kisses along the bridge of her nose and cheeks.

“So fucking good,” she said, a little breathless. “Fuck me harder, Cole. Fuck me like you never want to stop.”

That was all the permission I needed. Moving back onto my haunches, I lifted her hips, pulling out as far as possible before slamming back home. She met me thrust for thrust, her need almost as strong as my own.Almost.I needed this woman like I needed to breathe. Tonight had only just begun, and I knew it would never be enough, not when we fit together like we were made for this.

With a few more thrusts, Alex started to fall apart, her walls constricting hard around my cock. As she screamed my name into the night, my body cramped, my spine tingling with the need to release. There was no damn way I’d last much longer, not with the way she was gripping me. Without warning, my orgasm ripped to the surface, like a tsunami crashing against the beach. I swear, I almost fucking blacked out. I couldn’t feel any part of my body; legs, head, heart, all of them were happily numb, unable to focus on anything other than the woman underneath me.

I lowered myself, bringing my slick forehead against Alex’s as her eyes started to close, a satisfied smile playing on her lips. “That was amazing,” she said quietly. “I?—-”

“What?” I asked, pulling back to brush the hair away from her eyes.

She opened her eyes, and her smile turned shy. “I didn’t know it could be like that. Sex has always felt like a chore before, but with you….”

“It was fun?” I called over my shoulder as I rushed to the bathroom to clean up.

“It felt like a religious experience,” she chuckled, turning on her side to watch me in the mirror. “Can we do it again?”

I laughed as I brought over a washcloth to clean her up. She watched as I brought the cotton towel between her legs, trying to be as gentle as possible in case she was sore. “Give me a little bit, sweetheart. Then, I’m all yours.”

“Promises, promises,” she teased, resting her head against the pillow.

By the time I climbed back in bed, she was breathing heavier, sleeping peacefully against the pillow. With a light kiss against her shoulder, I curled my arm around her stomach, shifting her closer to me. I told myself I’d stay up, content to watch her sleep for a little while. Maybe I’d wake her up again later with my head buried between those perfect thighs.

With the familiar rose and other florals invading my senses, I drifted off to a heavy sleep, more content than I’d been in years.

“Fuck!”

The sound of Alex’s sharp yelp pulled me from an amazing dream. She was on her knees, begging for my cock. Oh wait—that might have been last night. After a brief nap, I woke up to that exact sight. We took turns waking each other up, our need for each other overriding the need for sleep.

This was a different kind of alarm.

As I sat up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes, Alex was running around the room, desperately trying to collect her clothing. My heart instantly plummeted to the ground: she regretted last night. The cold, callous voice in my head reminded me that this could happen, that she would get all of me and realize she deserved so much more. After all, this woman showed all her cards, exposing her darkest secrets and incredible strength.

No, I refused to accept that, not after we shared yesterday. Whatever was scaring her, we’d face it together. One night with her wasn’t enough. Hell, the rest of my life might not be enough.

The thoughts were ripped from my head as my shirt smacked me in the face. “Get dressed,” Alex yelled, pulling on her leggings.

Fuck this.

“Wait. Wait!” I said, hopping out of bed, not caring that I wascompletely naked. “What the hell is going on, Alex? Do you…” I swallowed, unable to meet her eyes. “Are you having second thoughts? Was last night too much?”

“What?” She whipped her head up to meet my eyes. “Why would you ever think that?”

“I woke up and you’re freaking out!” I said, my words more panicked than I intended. “What the fuck am I supposed to think?”

“That we overslept, and Adam and Theo are currently waiting in the other room to talk to us,” she said, her eyes widening in urgency. “So unless you have some kind of time machine or a hidden entrance, I think we’re going to have to come clean.”

“And you’re not sure if you want to?” I asked, hating how needy and insecure my voice sounded. Fuck it—I didn’t give a shit if this girl knew how gone I was for her, how it would kill me if she left now, keeping me as nothing more than a secret.

My fears were resolved when Alex lifted onto her toes, pressing a kiss to my lips. “I love you, Cole. I want everyone to know we’re together, assuming that’s what you want too. I’m just nervous about what Theo is going to do. You weren’t there when he went over that contract. He threatened me with alawsuit, Cole. I can’t deal with that, especially right now, when all the stuff with Fox Creek is still up in the air.”

“He’ll have to fucking get through me first,” I said, pulling her into my chest. “No one’s going to fuck with your dreams. Not while I’m around.”

Alex smiled against my bare skin. “I know you will, and I love you even more for it, but until Adam and I officially nullify our contract, there can’t be any surprises. Not with Theo involved.”

“I’ll think of something—maybe a distraction to get him out of the room so you can sneak back in. Maybe Adam can come up with something.”
