I nodded, shaking their words off my mind and trying to focus on Fen and me and the night we would be spending together.

“What movie did you decide on?” I asked as he unlocked the front door, and once we were inside, he locked us in again.

“I was thinking of some horror movie. Remember the list I made when we were fourteen? I think I still have it in my room somewhere.”

“A horror movie?”

“Scared?” he teased, pinching my side.

“No, I’m not scared. I don’t care what movie we’re gonna watch,” I told him, smiling at him.

“Good. Go grab some snacks from the cupboard while I look for the list.”

I nodded and watched him go into his room, then I walked over to the kitchen and looked through all the cupboards to find chips and popcorn, and even some Pop-Tarts.

Haven’t had these in a while.

I put the chips and popcorn into one bowl, knowing Fennec wouldn’t mind not having it in different bowls, then I opened two Pop-Tarts, placed them on top of the snack mix including the brownies Dianna gave us , then I opened the fridge to take out a bottle of coke.

All things not available in the wilderness, but things we loved to eat before we left.

“Did you find the list?” I asked as I walked into his bedroom, seeing as we’d be watching the movie on his TV.

I never had one in my room, but we shared his, so I spent lots of time in his bedroom.

“Yeah, and we didn’t even see half of the movies I wrote down. We might as well watch two tonight.”

“Sounds good to me. As long as they’re good. I don’t like the ones where it’s obvious where the plot is going.”

I sat down on the bed and placed the bowl and bottle next to me, then I placed the pillows behind me against the wall to lean back comfortably.

“I got two that have been banned years ago. They’re a bit…taboo. But they’re definitely not like Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Halloween.”

I puckered my lips. “How taboo?”

“Let’s just say some sexual acts and in general acts aren’t very nice to look at. I’m just saying. We don’t have to watch this one, but you said you don’t want to watch a basic horror movie, right?”

I nodded and looked at the handwritten list in his hand. “What’s the name of the movie?” I asked.

He turned the paper around so I could read the movie listed on number six.A Serbian Film.

“And you haven’t watched this movie yet?”

“Nope. Never had the chance to. And I wanted to spare you certain scenes. I heard a few things about this movie.”

“Let’s watch it,” I told him confidently.

“You sure?”

“Yes. We live in the wilderness, Fen. There’s not much I can’t handle.”

He grinned devilishly, making me rethink my decision in an instant.

“Okay. But don’t tell me I didn’t warn you.”

He opened a drawer and pulled out his old laptop, then connected it to his TV before searching for the movie online.

“Strangely enough, you can find most banned movies for free on YouTube,” he said, clicking on the button to enlarge the screen.
